IBM Support

Robot and Windows CE Applications support.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Robot cannot be installed on a machine running the Windows CE OS, but it can be installed on Win 98, NT, 2000, XP (see Rational Robot Release Notes for a list of supported platforms for Robot). A Windows CE application running within a Win CE emulator that is installed on a supported platform can thus indirectly test a Windows CE application.

Resolving The Problem

Robot cannot be installed on a machine running the Windows CE OS, but it can be
installed on Win 98, NT, 2000, XP (see Rational Robot Release Notes for a list of supported platforms for Robot). A Windows CE application running within a Win CE emulator that is installed on a supported platform can thus indirectly test a Windows CE application.

All controls in the emulator will be painted, so Robot will not be able to
perform its patented, first-class object-oriented recording. To test the
controls in the emulator, you will need to use low-level recording, Clipboard
and Image VPs, OCR, etc.
