Technical detail
DITTO/ESA for MVS Release 3
Machine Requirements
DITTO/ESA for MVS Release 3 is designed to operate on any IBM Enterprise System/9000 (ES/9000) or S/390 ESA capable processor supported by the operating systems listed in the Programming Requirements section. DITTO/ESA supports all tape devices and DASD that are compatible with these operating systems. It loads in the user's private area and runs as a normal application program.
To exploit DITTO/ESA for MVS Release 3 Japanese Feature, a printer supporting Japanese DBCS characters must be used for DITTO/ESA printouts. Interactive DITTO/ESA sessions require a user terminal that is capable of displaying Japanese DBCS characters.
Programming Requirements
The minimum requirement is for any one of the following:
-
IBM OS/390 Release 1 or later.
-
IBM MVS/ESA-SP-JES2 Version 5 or later.
-
IBM MVS/ESA-SP-JES3 Version 5 or later.
-
MVS/ESA-SP-JES2 Version 4 Release 3 or later.
-
MVS/ESA-SP-JES3 Version 4 Release 3 or later.
-
System Modification Program Extended (SMP/E) Version 1 Release 8 Modification 1 or later.
Note: The minimum DFP level required is MVS/Data Facility Product Version 3 Release 3 Modification 0.
DITTO/ESA for VM Release 3
Hardware Requirements
There are no special hardware requirements for DITTO/ESA for VM Release 3.
Operating System Requirements
DITTO/ESA for VM Release 3 supports the following VM operating systems:
-
VM/ESA Version 2 Release 2.0 or later.
-
RSU9702 service level or above must be applied to VMSES/E on VM/ESA 2.20 prior to installing DITTO/ESA.
Program Installation and Service Considerations
-
VMSES/E is required to install and service this product.
-
If multiple users install and maintain licensed products on your system, there may be a problem getting the necessary access to MAINT's 51D disk. If you find that there is contention for write access to the 51D disk, you can eliminate it by converting the Software Inventory from minidisk to Shared File Syste (SFS).
-
Customers will no longer install and service DITTO/ESA for VM Release 3 strictly using the MAINT user ID, but will use a new user ID (5654029D). This is the IBM suggested user ID name. You are free to change this to any user ID name you wish, however, a PPF override must be created.
Note: Currently supported hardware and operating systems would be required today. View some restrictions in APAR PI92167
