How To
Summary
There is currently a FLASH about PI93525/UI55005 installation issues: https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ibm10729727
However some times it is not obvious whether UI55005 is applied.
Objective
Determine if UI55005 is already applied (or needs to be applied) along with additional HIPER PTFs that are related:
PTF APAR
UI56464 PI98960
UI59216 PI98362
UI58124 PH01229
UI58650 PH02407
Environment
IWS z/OS 9.3
Steps
(1) check if your 9.3 controller has a STEPLIB. If it does, and that library includes load modules EQQMCTOP and EQQNMTOP use that
library for step 3 below (skip step 2). Otherwise proceed to step 2.
(2) Determine which LINK LIST (LNKLST) library contains the IWSz modules:
TSO ISRDDN
LPA
MEMBER EQQMCTOP
Reply YES to WARNING message
Scroll through the panels to see which library is the FIRST one in LINK LIST that contains EQQMCTOP. Proceed to step 3.
(3) Using the library that was found either via step 1 or step 2:
Browse the library in ISPF. Select module EQQMCTOP
Do a FIND for EQQMCADE
If EQQMCADE is NOT found it means UI55005 is not installed.
If EQQMCADE is found, do a REPEAT find (f5) you should see either:
EQQMCADE 18/04/05 11.52.57 UI55005 (this means UI55005 is installed but UI58124 is NOT installed)
or
EQQMCADE 18/08/02 04.58.22 UI58124 (this means both UI55005 and UI58124 are installed).
If UI55005 is not installed, proceed to step 4
While still browing load module EQQMCTOP - go back to the top then do FIND EQQMC3UP. Then do REPEAT FIND (F5)
You should see either:
EQQMC3UP 18/04/05 11.55.36 UI55005 (this means UI55005 is installed but UI59216 is NOT installed)
or
EQQMC3UP 18/10/18 04.57.31 UI59216 (this means both UI55005 and UI59216 are installed )
Next PF3 out of EQQMCTOP and select EQQNMTOP
Do Find EQQNMTO2 then do a REPEAT FIND (F5)
You should see either:
EQQNMTO2 18/04/05 11.56.47 UI55005 (this means UI55005 is installed but UI56464 is not installed)
or
EQQNMTO2 18/06/08 06.14.58 UI56464 (this means both UI55005 and UI56464 are installed)
Next go back to the top of EQQNMTOP and do a Find EQQNMLST then do a REPEAT FIND (F5)
You should see either:
EQQNMLST 18/04/05 11.56.39 UI55005 (this means UI55005 is installed but UI58650 is not installed)
0r
EQQNMLST 18/09/03 09.01.18 UI58650 (this means that both UI55005 and UI58650 are installed
(4) At this point you should know whether or not the PTFs listed in the OBJECTIVE section above are installed in the IWSz 9.3 environment
that you checked. Note that if you are going to be using a DIFFERENT IWSz 9.3 environment when you next start the controller
either because maintenance has been applied to IWSz 9.3 or to z/OS (or both) you will need to check the maintenance levels in this
new environment also using the same procedure (steps 1-3 above). Then you can check the following "decision box"
Current IWSz 9.3 New IWSz 9.3 / z/OS Next ACTION
UI55005 not installed UI55005 not installed No ACTION NEEDED with regards to the FLASH
UI55005 not installed UI55005 installed Follow the FLASH BEFORE starting the controller ;
install additional PTFs if needed
UI55005 installed UI55005 not installed Follow the BACKOUT procedure in the FLASH or install
UI55005 and the additional PTFs before starting the controller
UI55005 installed UI55005 installed No ACTION needed UNLESS you are seeing any of the possible
problems mentioned in the FLASH (i.e. ABENDS, messages)
If after reviewing this and the FLASH you are NOT SURE what your next action should be open a PMR with IWSz support.
