Important changes and enhancements in this release

  • Introduction of Trial and Base Subscription editions, now available directly from the IBM Marketplace.
  • Improvements to the Mac and Windows Download and Go (D&G) application:
    • License Management for Trial and Base Subscription
    • Ability to enable the container on a local named host and not just localhost. This enables the local instance to be potentially available to others in the network.
  • Reduced the MDM Express Docker image size by almost 50%.
  • Improved back-end services handling, startup, and shutdown.
  • Improved the matching algorithm to help avoid false positives.
  • Added fields for Account data and National ID. (as part of the Person Model)
  • Improved job handing and queue management.
  • Added the ability to start a rematch process from the user interface.
  • Added the ability to choose the record type and file type for data exports.
  • Added the ability to save user preferences and global preferences for the search results column display. (click "Columns" when in table view)
  • Improved the ability to extend the model for payload data, as well as the ability to modify existing labels and add new labels to the fields in the model including labels for a different language.

Known Issues in this version of the Mac and Windows Download and Go (D&G) application:

The following known issues exist when using the Download and Go (D&G) application to install IBM MDM Express Base Subscription or IBM MDM Express Trial version:

  • Install fails if the previous Docker image version is still in place (290)
    Make sure that the v1.0 Docker image, container and related files are uninstalled and removed before installing v1.0.0.1.
    • On Mac, after uninstalling the v1.0 Docker container, images, and D&G application, also delete the mdm plist files in ~/Library/Preferences/
 
      • com.ibm.mdmdg.plist 
      • com.ibm.dgmdm.plist
    •  On Windows, after uninstalling the v1.0 Docker container, images and D&G application, also delete the MDM related folders and files in
      • <user-home>/AppData/Local/ - folder named: ibmbigmatch
      • <user-home>/AppData/Roaming/
        • comibmmdmdg.log
        •  comibmdgmdm.log
        • Folder named: IBM MDM Express DG
  • Delays during license check (292)
    During subsequent startups of the D&G application, there is a slight delay between when the license check is done and the next screen is shown.
  • Error if no internet connection is available (291)
    During subsequent startups of the D&G application, the application will show a non-descriptive error message if there is no internet connection available.
  • Cancel button behavior (281)
    The Cancel buttons on the Add User and Configure Hostname screens do not, in fact, cancel changes made in that session.
  • Can only add users post-installation if the container is running (274)
    To be able to add users to MDM Express after the initial installation, the Docker container must be running. To avoid this issue, ensure that the container has been started before trying to add users.
  • Windows Firewall might block the D&G application (198)
    If Windows Firewall is enabled, it might prevent the D&G application from working. To resolve this issue, add the D&G application as an exception in the firewall rules.

Known Issues in this version of the IBM MDM Express user interface:

The IBM MDM Express user interface has the following known issues in this release:

  • Entity size distribution is not available in the UI if automatic matching is disabled and then enabled after a file upload. Start a rematch to fix the problem. (1604)
  • Depending on the hardware resources allocated to the Docker container, deleting a large collection of records could take a lot of time and resources as the back-end processes delete the data and do a full rematch in the background. If you are deleting the full collection of data, or more than a few million records, ensure that the application has enough time and resources to complete the job. Alternately, you may choose to run the ClearGraph script from a command line. Please see the Knowledge Center documentation for details on ClearGraph. (410)
  • If an upload file includes duplicate records that share the exact same record ID and record source, then the upload will fail. The following error message will be recorded in the log file: "java.lang.IllegalStateException: Multiple properties exist for the provided key, use Vertex.properties(collectionId)" (1274)
