Security Bulletin
Summary
IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management can be affected by vulnerabilities in spring-context, logback-core and Another JSON Schema Validator. Vulnerabilities include VMware Tanzu Spring Framework could provide weaker than expected security, caused by a flaw related to disallowedFields patterns in DataBinder is case insensitive, it is possible to bypass the disallowedFields checks in spring product, allows an attacker to instantiate classes already present on the class path by compromising an existing logback configuration file, and Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) when the $data option is enabled as described by the CVEs in the "Vulnerability Details" section.
Vulnerability Details
CVEID: CVE-2025-69873
DESCRIPTION: ajv (Another JSON Schema Validator) before 8.18.0 is vulnerable to Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) when the $data option is enabled. The pattern keyword accepts runtime data via JSON Pointer syntax ($data reference), which is passed directly to the JavaScript RegExp() constructor without validation. An attacker can inject a malicious regex pattern (e.g., "^(a|a)*$") combined with crafted input to cause catastrophic backtracking. A 31-character payload causes approximately 44 seconds of CPU blocking, with each additional character doubling execution time. This enables complete denial of service with a single HTTP request against any API using ajv with $data: true for dynamic schema validation. This issue is also fixed in version 6.14.0.
CWE: CWE-1333: Inefficient Regular Expression Complexity
CVSS Source: cve@mitre.org

CVEID: CVE-2026-1225
DESCRIPTION: ACE vulnerability in configuration file processing by QOS.CH logback-core up to and including version 1.5.24 in Java applications, allows an attacker to instantiate classes already present on the class path by compromising an existing logback configuration file.
The instantiation of a potentially malicious Java class requires that said class is present on the user's class-path. In addition, the attacker must have write access to a
configuration file. However, after successful instantiation, the instance is very likely to be discarded with no further ado.
CWE: CWE-20: Improper Input Validation
CVSS Source: vulnerability@ncsc.ch
CVSS Base score: 1.8
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:H/AT:P/PR:H/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:L/SC:L/SI:L/SA:L/E:X/CR:X/IR:X/AR:X/MAV:X/MAC:X/MAT:X/MPR:X/MUI:X/MVC:X/MVI:X/MVA:X/MSC:X/MSI:X/MSA:X/S:N/AU:N/R:X/V:X/RE:M/U:Green)
CVEID: CVE-2025-22233
DESCRIPTION: CVE-2024-38820 ensured Locale-independent, lowercase conversion for both the configured disallowedFields patterns and for request parameter names. However, there are still cases where it is possible to bypass the disallowedFields checks.
Affected Spring Products and Versions
Spring Framework:
* 6.2.0 - 6.2.6
* 6.1.0 - 6.1.19
* 6.0.0 - 6.0.27
* 5.3.0 - 5.3.42
* Older, unsupported versions are also affected
Mitigation
Users of affected versions should upgrade to the corresponding fixed version.

No further mitigation steps are necessary.
Generally, we recommend using a dedicated model object with properties only for data binding, or using constructor binding since constructor arguments explicitly declare what to bind together with turning off setter binding through the declarativeBinding flag. See the Model Design section in the reference documentation.
For setting binding, prefer the use of allowedFields (an explicit list) over disallowedFields.

CVEID: CVE-2024-38820
DESCRIPTION: The fix for CVE-2022-22968 made disallowedFields patterns in DataBinder case insensitive. However, String.toLowerCase() has some Locale dependent exceptions that could potentially result in fields not protected as expected.

Disclaimer
According to the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) is an "industry open standard designed to convey vulnerability severity and help to determine urgency and priority of response." IBM PROVIDES THE CVSS SCORES ""AS IS"" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. CUSTOMERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSESSING THE IMPACT OF ANY ACTUAL OR POTENTIAL SECURITY VULNERABILITY. In addition to other efforts to address potential vulnerabilities, IBM periodically updates the record of components contained in our product offerings. As part of that effort, if IBM identifies previously unidentified packages in a product/service inventory, we address relevant vulnerabilities regardless of CVE date. Inclusion of an older CVEID does not demonstrate that the referenced product has been used by IBM since that date, nor that IBM was aware of a vulnerability as of that date. We are making clients aware of relevant vulnerabilities as we become aware of them. "Affected Products and Versions" referenced in IBM Security Bulletins are intended to be only products and versions that are supported by IBM and have not passed their end-of-support or warranty date. Thus, failure to reference unsupported or extended-support products and versions in this Security Bulletin does not constitute a determination by IBM that they are unaffected by the vulnerability. Reference to one or more unsupported versions in this Security Bulletin shall not create an obligation for IBM to provide fixes for any unsupported or extended-support products or versions.
