Error description

  • An application getting from an AMS protected queue may lose the
    message if the application runs out of storage during unprotect
    processing due to there being insufficient storage for error
    queue processing resulting in the message being lost.

    Following messages are seen in the getting application CSQ0216E
    +CSQ1 CSQ0CGET Message unprotection failed, return code
    15728642, reason 00000004 CSQ0217E +CSQ1 CSQ0CGET Failed to
    process object 'not available' CSQ0240E +CSQ1 CSQ0CMDQ No
    storage for error queue processing for queue-name

Local fix

  • Ensure applications have sufficient storage available to them

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Message "CSQ0240E CSQ0CMDQ No storage   *
    * for error queue processing" occurs when *
    * an AMS protected message cannot be *
    * unprotected, and the attempt to move it *
    * to the error queue fails due to a *
    * storage shortage in the application *
    *                      address space.                          *
    ****************************************************************
    When moving a message to the error queue
    SYSTEM.PROTECTION.ERROR.QUEUE following an unsuccessful attempt
    to process a protected message that has been removed from an AMS
    protected queue, CSQ0CMDQ requires a buffer to contain the MQDLH
    and protected message contents. If storage is unavailable (for
    example, if the unprotection attempt failed due to a shortage of
    storage in the application address space), the message cannot be
    moved to the error queue.
    If the MQGET was issued inside of syncpoint, the message is
    returned to the original queue when the application backs out.
    If the application commits following the unsuccessful MQGET, or
    the MQGET was issued outside of syncpoint the message is not
    returned to the original queue and is lost.

Problem conclusion

  • CSQ0CMDQ is changed to use existing storage allocations when
    putting to the error queue, greatly reducing the amount of
    storage required when moving a message to the error queue.
