Security Bulletin: Vulnerabilities in Angular,Netty,snakeYAML,Next.js might affect IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management

Security Bulletin

Summary

IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management can be affected by vulnerabilities in Angular,Netty,snakeYAML,Next.js. Vulnerabilities include high-severity information disclosure vulnerability, allowing attackers to find hash collisions, uncontrolled resource consumption which lead to a Denial of Service (DoS), incorrectly return true for passwords larger than 72 characters as long as the first 72 characters are the same, an attacker can bypass IPv6 subnet rules due to an incorrect masking operation, snakeYAML parse untrusted YAML files may be vulnerable to Denial of Service attacks (DOS), Deserializing yaml content provided by an attacker can lead to remote code execution, allowing an attacker to retrieve SSR JSON for protected pages without passing the intended authorization checks, allowing protected content to be reached without the expected authorization check, allow protected content to be reached without the expected authorization check, an attacker can cause an RSC response to be served from the original URL and poison shared cache entries so later visitors receive component payloads instead of the expected HTML, allow attacker-controlled input to break out of the intended script context and execute arbitrary JavaScript in a visitor's browser, Confidential data in the POST's response body would then leak to unauthorized requests and allowing an attacker to poison cached responses and cause script execution for later visitors as described by the CVEs in the "Vulnerability Details" section.

Vulnerability Details

CVEID:   CVE-2026-50170
DESCRIPTION:   Angular is a development platform for building mobile and desktop web applications using TypeScript/JavaScript and other languages. Prior to 22.0.0-rc.2, 21.2.15, 20.3.22, and 19.2.23, a vulnerability was discovered in @angular/common when Server-Side Rendering (SSR) and hydration are enabled. The HttpTransferCache utility optimizes hydration by caching outgoing HTTP requests performed during SSR and transferring the cached state to the client-side application via TransferState. However, the caching mechanism fails to inspect the withCredentials flag or the Cookie header of outgoing requests. As a result, credentialed, user-specific responses may be cached by default in the shared TransferState payload. When these responses are serialized into the HTML, any caching layer (such as a CDN, reverse proxy, or shared server cache) that caches the SSR-rendered HTML page could inadvertently cache and leak one user's private data to other users, leading to a high-severity information disclosure vulnerability. This vulnerability is fixed in 22.0.0-rc.2, 21.2.15, 20.3.22, and 19.2.23.

CVEID:   CVE-2026-50171
DESCRIPTION:   Angular is a development platform for building mobile and desktop web applications using TypeScript/JavaScript and other languages. Prior to 22.0.0-rc.2, 21.2.15, 20.3.22, and 19.2.23, a Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability exists in the @angular/common package of Angular. The formatNumber function, which is also utilized by DecimalPipe, PercentPipe, and CurrencyPipe, does not properly validate the upper bounds of the digitsInfo parameter. Specifically, the minimum and maximum fraction digits parsed from the digitsInfo string (e.g., 1.2-4) are converted to integers and used without limits. When parsing a maliciously crafted digitsInfo string with excessively large fraction digit values (e.g., 1.200000000-200000000), the internal roundNumber function attempts to pad the digits array to match the requested fraction size. This results in an unbounded loop that repeatedly pushes elements into an array. This vulnerability is fixed in 22.0.0-rc.2, 21.2.15, 20.3.22, and 19.2.23.

CVEID:   CVE-2026-54266
DESCRIPTION:   Angular is a development platform for building mobile and desktop web applications using TypeScript/JavaScript and other languages. Prior to 22.0.1, 21.2.17, and 20.3.25, Angular's HttpTransferCache caches HTTP requests made during Server-Side Rendering (SSR) so that they can be reused during client-side hydration. This avoids repeating the same HTTP requests on the client. The cached responses are stored in TransferState using a cache key generated by hashing request properties (method, response type, mapped URL, serialized body, and sorted query parameters). The cache keys are generated using a weak 32-bit DJB2-like polynomial rolling hash. The 32-bit hash space is extremely small, allowing attackers to find hash collisions. An attacker can easily find a query parameter string (e.g., q=aaCAZMMM for a search request) that produces the exact same 32-bit hash as a sensitive endpoint (e.g., /api/user/profile). When a victim visits a crafted link containing the colliding parameter, the SSR process executes both the search request and the profile request. Due to the hash collision, the search response overwrites the profile response in the TransferState cache. This vulnerability is fixed in 22.0.1, 21.2.17, and 20.3.25.

CVEID:   CVE-2026-54268
DESCRIPTION:   Angular is a development platform for building mobile and desktop web applications using TypeScript/JavaScript and other languages. Prior to 22.0.1, 21.2.17, and 20.3.25, a Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability exists in the @angular/common package of the Angular framework. The formatDate function, which is also utilized by the standard Angular DatePipe, does not properly limit or validate the length of the format parameter. When parsing a maliciously crafted, excessively long date format string (e.g., a repeating pattern or very large string), the internal parser splits the string iteratively using a regular expression loop. This results in uncontrolled resource consumption (high CPU utilization and excessive memory allocations), leading to a Denial of Service (DoS). This vulnerability is fixed in 22.0.1, 21.2.17, and 20.3.25.

CVEID:   CVE-2026-44572
DESCRIPTION:   Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web applications. From 12.2.0 to before 15.5.16 and 16.2.5, an external client could send a x-nextjs-data header on a normal request to a path handled by middleware that returns a redirect. When that happened, the middleware/proxy could treat the request as a data request and replace the standard Location redirect header with the internal x-nextjs-redirect header. Browsers do not follow x-nextjs-redirect, so the response became an unusable redirect for normal clients. If the application was deployed behind a CDN or reverse proxy that caches 3xx responses without varying on this header, a single attacker request could poison the cached redirect response for the affected path. Subsequent visitors could then receive a cached redirect response without a Location header, causing a denial of service for that redirect path until the cache entry expired or was purged. This vulnerability is fixed in 15.5.16 and 16.2.5.
CWE:   CWE-349: Acceptance of Extraneous Untrusted Data With Trusted Data

CVEID:   CVE-2026-44573
DESCRIPTION:   Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web applications. From 12.2.0 to before 15.5.16 and 16.2.5, Applications using the Pages Router with i18n configured and middleware/proxy-based authorization can allow unauthorized access to protected page data through locale-less /_next/data/buildId/page.json requests. In affected configurations, middleware does not run for the unprefixed data route, allowing an attacker to retrieve SSR JSON for protected pages without passing the intended authorization checks. This vulnerability is fixed in 15.5.16 and 16.2.5.
CWE:   CWE-863: Incorrect Authorization

CVEID:   CVE-2026-44574
DESCRIPTION:   Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web applications. From 15.4.0 to before 15.5.16 and 16.2.5, applications that rely on middleware to protect dynamic routes can be vulnerable to authorization bypass. In affected deployments, specially crafted query parameters can alter the dynamic route value seen by the page while leaving the visible path unchanged, which can allow protected content to be rendered without passing the expected middleware check. This vulnerability is fixed in 15.5.16 and 16.2.5.

CVEID:   CVE-2026-44575
DESCRIPTION:   Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web applications. From 15.2.0 to before 15.5.16 and 16.2.5, App Router applications that rely on middleware or proxy-based checks for authorization can allow unauthorized access through transport-specific route variants used for segment prefetching. In affected configurations, specially crafted .rsc and segment-prefetch URLs can resolve to the same page without being matched by the intended middleware rule, which can allow protected content to be reached without the expected authorization check. This vulnerability is fixed in 15.5.16 and 16.2.5.

CVEID:   CVE-2026-44576
DESCRIPTION:   Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web applications. From 14.2.0 to before 15.5.16 and 16.2.5, applications using React Server Components can be vulnerable to cache poisoning when shared caches do not correctly partition response variants. Under affected conditions, an attacker can cause an RSC response to be served from the original URL and poison shared cache entries so later visitors receive component payloads instead of the expected HTML. This vulnerability is fixed in 15.5.16 and 16.2.5.

CVEID:   CVE-2026-44577
DESCRIPTION:   Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web applications. From 10.0.0 to before 15.5.16 and 16.2.5, when self-hosting Next.js with the default image loader, the Image Optimization API fetches local images entirely into memory without enforcing a maximum size limit. An attacker could cause out-of-memory conditions by requesting large local assets from the /_next/image endpoint that match the images.localPatterns configuration (by default, all patterns are allowed). This vulnerability is fixed in 15.5.16 and 16.2.5.
CWE:   CWE-770: Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling

CVEID:   CVE-2026-44578
DESCRIPTION:   Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web applications. From 13.4.13 to before 15.5.16 and 16.2.5, self-hosted applications using the built-in Node.js server can be vulnerable to server-side request forgery through crafted WebSocket upgrade requests. An attacker can cause the server to proxy requests to arbitrary internal or external destinations, which may expose internal services or cloud metadata endpoints. Vercel-hosted deployments are not affected. This vulnerability is fixed in 15.5.16 and 16.2.5.

CVEID:   CVE-2026-44579
DESCRIPTION:   Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web applications. From to before 15.5.16 and 16.2.5, applications using Partial Prerendering through the Cache Components feature can be vulnerable to connection exhaustion through crafted POST requests to a server action. In affected configurations, a malicious request can trigger a request-body handling deadlock that leaves connections open for an extended period, consuming file descriptors and server capacity until legitimate users are denied service. This vulnerability is fixed in 15.5.16 and 16.2.5.

CVEID:   CVE-2026-64645
DESCRIPTION:   Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web applications. In versions 12.0.0 through 15.5.20 and 16.0.0 through 16.2.10, a rewrites() or redirects() rule that builds its external destination hostname from request-controlled input can be pointed at an arbitrary hostname, regardless of the rule's hostname suffix. For a rewrite, Next.js proxies the request to that arbitrary host and serves the response from the application's origin, leading to Server-Side Request forgery. A redirects() rule configured this way is vulnerable to an Open Redirect. This issue has been fixed in versions 15.5.21 and 16.2.11.

CVEID:   CVE-2026-64647
DESCRIPTION:   Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web applications. In versions 12.0.0 through 15.5.20 and 16.0.0 through 16.2.10, a server-side fetch with a request body may return a cached response body from a different request to the same URL but different body. Confidential data in the POST's response body would then leak to unauthorized requests. Though the request itself will not be deduped. This is only an issue when receiving request bodies with a content type charset other than UTF-8. For example, the UTF-16 byte sequences for 삃삃 and 섄섄 in the request body would share the same cache. This issue has been fixed in versions 15.5.21 and 16.2.11.

CVEID:   CVE-2026-64648
DESCRIPTION:   Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web applications. In versions 12.0.0 through 15.5.20 and 16.0.0 through 16.2.10, a server-side fetch with a request body may return a cached response body from a different request to the same URL but different body. Confidential data in the POST's response body would then leak to unauthorized requests. Though the request itself will not be deduped. This only applies to fetch calls with a request that has a different init than the one passed to fetch. A safe request would be: fetch(new Request(init), init). An unsafe request would be: fetch(new Request(init), aDifferentInit). This issue has been fixed in versions 15.5.21 and 16.2.11.

CVEID:   CVE-2026-64649
DESCRIPTION:   Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web applications. In versions 14.1.1 through 15.5.20 and 16.0.0 through 16.2.10, when a Server Action forwards or redirects a request, an attacker can cause the server to send that outbound request to a malicious host (Server-Side Request Forgery). This requires the attacker's request to control Host-associated headers. In some configurations, it's also possible to obtain internal values that weaken middleware/proxy authorization. Applications that use Server Actions are affected when the incoming host header is not fixed to a trusted value. This typically occurs on custom servers, or on deployments not behind a proxy that pins the host. Managed hosting pins the host upstream and is not affected; next start and standalone output do the same from version 14.2 onward. This issue has been fixed in versions 15.5.21 and 16.2.11.

Disclaimer

According to the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) is an "industry open standard designed to convey vulnerability severity and help to determine urgency and priority of response." IBM PROVIDES THE CVSS SCORES ""AS IS"" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. CUSTOMERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSESSING THE IMPACT OF ANY ACTUAL OR POTENTIAL SECURITY VULNERABILITY. In addition to other efforts to address potential vulnerabilities, IBM periodically updates the record of components contained in our product offerings. As part of that effort, if IBM identifies previously unidentified packages in a product/service inventory, we address relevant vulnerabilities regardless of CVE date. Inclusion of an older CVEID does not demonstrate that the referenced product has been used by IBM since that date, nor that IBM was aware of a vulnerability as of that date. We are making clients aware of relevant vulnerabilities as we become aware of them. "Affected Products and Versions" referenced in IBM Security Bulletins are intended to be only products and versions that are supported by IBM and have not passed their end-of-support or warranty date. Thus, failure to reference unsupported or extended-support products and versions in this Security Bulletin does not constitute a determination by IBM that they are unaffected by the vulnerability. Reference to one or more unsupported versions in this Security Bulletin shall not create an obligation for IBM to provide fixes for any unsupported or extended-support products or versions.
