Security Bulletin

Summary

IBM Enterprise Build of Quarkus is affected by vulnerabilities in JSoup, Elytron, Reactor, BouncyCastle and zstd-jni

Vulnerability Details

CVEID:   CVE-2026-75140
DESCRIPTION:   jsoup through 1.23.2, fixed in commit 862ba2f, contains an uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability in XmlTreeBuilder that allows remote attackers to exhaust JVM heap memory by supplying a deeply nested XML document with uniquely-namespaced elements. The builder copies the entire inherited namespace map on every start element, causing quadratic time and memory complexity, which attackers can exploit to trigger an OutOfMemoryError and terminate the application.
CWE:   CWE-770: Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling
CVSS Source:   disclosure@vulncheck.com
CVSS Base score:   7.5
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-19611
DESCRIPTION:   A flaw was found in WildFly Elytron. Password hashing and verification normalize input with Unicode NFKC, which can collapse fullwidth characters to ASCII equivalents. A remote attacker can more easily guess affected passwords by using an ASCII-only dictionary against accounts whose passwords were intended to include those non-ASCII characters, leading to unauthorized access.
CWE:   CWE-173: Improper Handling of Alternate Encoding
CVSS Source:   secalert@redhat.com
CVSS Base score:   7.4
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-87795
DESCRIPTION:   zstd-jni versions before 1.5.7-14 fail to validate offset and length parameters in the ZstdDictCompress constructor, allowing out-of-bounds memory reads. Attackers can supply untrusted offset or length values to read native heap memory into the compression dictionary, typically causing JVM crashes.
CWE:   CWE-125: Out-of-bounds Read
CVSS Source:   disclosure@vulncheck.com
CVSS Base score:   8.2
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:H)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-87823
DESCRIPTION:   zstd-jni before 1.5.7-14 performs 32-bit signed bounds checks on three direct-ByteBuffer frame-size native methods, allowing out-of-bounds memory reads via negative or overflowing offsets. Attackers can supply negative offset values near Integer.MIN_VALUE to read unmapped memory, causing JVM termination or extracting arbitrary frame size data from unintended memory locations.
CWE:   CWE-190: Integer Overflow or Wraparound
CVSS Source:   disclosure@vulncheck.com
CVSS Base score:   8.2
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:H)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-87824
DESCRIPTION:   zstd-jni before 1.5.7-14 fails to validate the samples buffer capacity in Zstd.trainFromBufferDirect, allowing attackers to read past buffer boundaries by supplying oversized per-sample lengths. Attackers can trigger out-of-bounds memory access by providing crafted sample length arrays that cause the native implementation to walk past the buffer allocation, resulting in JVM termination.
CWE:   CWE-125: Out-of-bounds Read
CVSS Source:   disclosure@vulncheck.com
CVSS Base score:   7.5
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-87825
DESCRIPTION:   zstd-jni before 1.5.7-14 contains a use-after-free vulnerability where streams and contexts hold a dictionary's shared lock only during the load call, allowing the dictionary to be closed while still referenced. Attackers can close a dictionary after associating it with a stream or context, causing subsequent read or write operations to access freed native memory, resulting in silent data corruption or JVM crashes.
CWE:   CWE-416: Use After Free
CVSS Source:   disclosure@vulncheck.com
CVSS Base score:   7.7
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-87877
DESCRIPTION:   zstd-jni versions before 1.5.7-14 fail to validate closed state in setDict, setLongMax, setLevel and setRefMultipleDDicts methods of stream classes. Attackers can call these methods on closed streams to write through freed native pointers, corrupting unrelated objects or crashing the JVM.
CWE:   CWE-416: Use After Free
CVSS Source:   disclosure@vulncheck.com
CVSS Base score:   7.7
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-58059
DESCRIPTION:   In Bouncy Castle for Java before 1.85, Quadratic-time escaping when stringifying X.500 distinguished names. This issue also affects Bouncy Castle for Java LTS before 2.73.12, and Bouncy Castle for Java FIPS (BC-FJA) before bc-fips 1.0.2.7 (1.0.X series), 2.0.2 (2.0.X series) and 2.1.3 (2.1.X series).

CVEID:   CVE-2026-90852
DESCRIPTION:   A vulnerability has been found in luben zstd-jni up to 1.5.7-13. This vulnerability affects the function ZstdCompressCtx.loadDict of the file ZstdCompressCtx.java of the component Dictionary Sharing. Such manipulation leads to use after free. The attack can be executed remotely. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. Upgrading to version 1.5.7-14 is able to resolve this issue. The name of the patch is a560131d7834598afd9cea6b7c107bc88e915936. The affected component should be upgraded. The vendor was contacted early, responded in a very professional manner and quickly released a fixed version of the affected product.
CWE:   CWE-119: Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer
CVSS Source:   cna@vuldb.com
CVSS Base score:   7.3
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-71497
DESCRIPTION:   jsoup is a Java library for working with real-world HTML. From 1.14.3 until 1.23.1, jsoup's HTML parser could incorrectly handle a malformed tag name ending in a control character, causing the tag to acquire the parsing behavior of a different element. When a custom Safelist permits certain raw-text elements, this misparsing can cause content that should remain inert text to be emitted as active markup after serialization, potentially resulting in cross-site scripting. jsoup's built-in Safelists are not affected. This issue is fixed in version 1.23.1.
CWE:   CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')
CVSS Source:   security-advisories@github.com
CVSS Base score:   4.7
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-89045
DESCRIPTION:   zstd-jni versions 1.4.8-4 through 1.5.7-13 fail to validate negative length parameters in ZstdInputStreamNoFinalizer.read(), allowing attackers to trigger infinite loops. Attackers can pass negative length values to cause the read method to spin indefinitely while holding the stream monitor, blocking all other threads from accessing the stream.
CWE:   CWE-835: Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop')
CVSS Source:   disclosure@vulncheck.com
CVSS Base score:   4
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-89046
DESCRIPTION:   zstd-jni versions 1.5.5-6 through 1.5.7-13 contain an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in Zstd.getFrameContentSize that fails to validate negative srcPosition arguments. Attackers can supply negative offset values that bypass bounds checks and reach the native frame-header parser, causing out-of-bounds memory reads that lead to information disclosure or JVM crashes.
CWE:   CWE-125: Out-of-bounds Read
CVSS Source:   disclosure@vulncheck.com
CVSS Base score:   8.2
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:H)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-90560
DESCRIPTION:   zstd-jni versions 1.2.0 through 1.5.7-13 contain an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the ZstdDictDecompress constructor because offset and length arguments are never validated against the dictionary array bounds. Attackers can supply arbitrary offset or length values to read memory past the end of the supplied array, potentially causing JVM termination.

According to the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) is an "industry open standard designed to convey vulnerability severity and help to determine urgency and priority of response." IBM PROVIDES THE CVSS SCORES ""AS IS"" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. CUSTOMERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSESSING THE IMPACT OF ANY ACTUAL OR POTENTIAL SECURITY VULNERABILITY. In addition to other efforts to address potential vulnerabilities, IBM periodically updates the record of components contained in our product offerings. As part of that effort, if IBM identifies previously unidentified packages in a product/service inventory, we address relevant vulnerabilities regardless of CVE date. Inclusion of an older CVEID does not demonstrate that the referenced product has been used by IBM since that date, nor that IBM was aware of a vulnerability as of that date. We are making clients aware of relevant vulnerabilities as we become aware of them. "Affected Products and Versions" referenced in IBM Security Bulletins are intended to be only products and versions that are supported by IBM and have not passed their end-of-support or warranty date. Thus, failure to reference unsupported or extended-support products and versions in this Security Bulletin does not constitute a determination by IBM that they are unaffected by the vulnerability. Reference to one or more unsupported versions in this Security Bulletin shall not create an obligation for IBM to provide fixes for any unsupported or extended-support products or versions.
