Problem
A regression defect (DT499705) was identified in IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) Manage where inventory balances fail to update after a rotating asset is moved from an operating location into a storeroom bin. This issue was introduced by a prior code fix (DT464379) and affects the 9.0, 9.1, and 9.2 release streams.
Symptom
In the Assets application, when a user moves a rotating asset from an operating location to a storeroom bin using the Move/Modify Asset action, Maximo reports the move as successful. However, one or both of the following inventory discrepancies may be observed:
The destination bin already exists in the Inventory record but its current balance (
CURBAL) is not incremented to reflect the incoming asset.The destination bin does not exist in the Inventory record at all — no
INVBALANCESrow is created for the bin.
In both cases, the MATRECTRANS transaction record is written correctly, but the downstream inventory balance update is silently skipped.
This issue is observed only for Move/Modify transactions where a rotating asset is moved from a non-inventory (operating) location into a storeroom bin. Direct asset creation in a storeroom is not affected.
Cause
This is a regression introduced by fix for DT464379.
