Security Bulletin: IBM i is Affected By Multiple Vulnerabilities in Navigator for i and Digital Certificate Manager for i.

Security Bulletin

Summary

IBM Navigator for i and IBM Digital Certificate Manager (DCM) for i use Angular for frontend Graphical User Interfaces (GUI). Angular is vulnerable to cross-site scripting (XSS) by permitting event-handler attributes in the i18n pipeline, allowing a lower-trust translation file to inject executable JavaScript [CVE-2026-69151]. IBM i Navigator for i is vulnerable to a remote authenticated attacker obtaining sensitive information due to a race condition during the WebSocket handshake process [CVE-2026-18151], a remote authenticated attacker placing files into unintended locations in the file system due to improper path validation [CVE-2026-18515], a remote attacker obtaining sensitive information due to improper validation of the WebSocket origin [CVE-2026-18251], and both Navigator for i and Digital Certificate Manager for i are vulnerable to a remote unauthenticated attacker gaining access to sensitive information through a session IP binding bypass [CVE-2026-18065], as described in the vulnerability details section.

Vulnerability Details

CVEID:   CVE-2026-69151
DESCRIPTION:   Angular is a development platform for building mobile and desktop web applications using TypeScript/JavaScript and other languages. Prior to 20.3.27, 21.2.19, and 22.0.1, the Angular compiler i18n pipeline permits i18n-onerror and other i18n-on event-handler attributes, allowing a lower-trust translation file to replace a static handler with executable JavaScript. This issue is fixed in versions 20.3.27, 21.2.19, and 22.0.1.
CWE:   CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')
CVSS Source:   NVD
CVSS Base score:   6.1
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-18151
DESCRIPTION:   IBM i could allow a remote authenticated attacker to obtain sensitive information due to a race condition during the WebSocket handshake process.
CWE:   CWE-362: Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')
CVSS Source:   IBM
CVSS Base score:   4.2
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-18515
DESCRIPTION:   IBM i could allow a remote authenticated attacker to place files into the file system with Navigator for i when they should be blocked by Navigator configuration. This could allow attackers to upload files onto the system to places the Navigator support did not intend, but only if the profile could already do that by itself.
CWE:   CWE-22: Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')
CVSS Source:   IBM
CVSS Base score:   4.3
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-18251
DESCRIPTION:   IBM i could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information due to improper validation of the WebSocket origin.
CWE:   CWE-1385: Missing Origin Validation in WebSockets
CVSS Source:   IBM
CVSS Base score:   4.3
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N)

CVEID:   CVE-2026-18065
DESCRIPTION:   IBM i could allow a remote unauthenticated attacker to gain access to sensitive information through session IP binding bypass in Navigator for i.
CWE:   CWE-290: Authentication Bypass by Spoofing
CVSS Source:   IBM
CVSS Base score:   5.3
CVSS Vector:   (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N)

Disclaimer

According to the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) is an "industry open standard designed to convey vulnerability severity and help to determine urgency and priority of response." IBM PROVIDES THE CVSS SCORES ""AS IS"" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. CUSTOMERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSESSING THE IMPACT OF ANY ACTUAL OR POTENTIAL SECURITY VULNERABILITY. In addition to other efforts to address potential vulnerabilities, IBM periodically updates the record of components contained in our product offerings. As part of that effort, if IBM identifies previously unidentified packages in a product/service inventory, we address relevant vulnerabilities regardless of CVE date. Inclusion of an older CVEID does not demonstrate that the referenced product has been used by IBM since that date, nor that IBM was aware of a vulnerability as of that date. We are making clients aware of relevant vulnerabilities as we become aware of them. "Affected Products and Versions" referenced in IBM Security Bulletins are intended to be only products and versions that are supported by IBM and have not passed their end-of-support or warranty date. Thus, failure to reference unsupported or extended-support products and versions in this Security Bulletin does not constitute a determination by IBM that they are unaffected by the vulnerability. Reference to one or more unsupported versions in this Security Bulletin shall not create an obligation for IBM to provide fixes for any unsupported or extended-support products or versions.
