PH73020: IMS TOOLS COMMON PAUSER JOB FOIVCAP1 GENERATES DFSDBCTG WITH ASSEMBLER OPTION 'NOBATCH'

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• IMS Tools Common Pauser job FOIVCAP1 does not specify assembler
  option 'BATCH', allowing DFSDBCTG to be generated with
  'NOBATCH'.  This caused FOIUDAS4, which should have been
  included as a CSECT in DFSDBCTG, to not be included.  Instead,
  it remained as WX (External Weak Reference).

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
  * The job that generates the DFSDBCTG                          *
  * module does not explicitly specify all                       *
  * required HLASM options. As a result,                         *
  * certain system-level HLASM options                           *
  * might cause DFSDBCTG to be generated                         *
  * incorrectly.                                                 *
  *                                                              *
  * When the incorrectly generated DFSDBCTG                      *
  * module is used, the CICS and ODBA                            *
  * applications pause feature of IMS Tools                      *
  * Common Pauser might not suspend                              *
  * processing by CICS and ODBA                                  *
  * applications.                                                *
  *                                                              *
  * Consequently, CICS and ODBA                                  *
  * applications continue to run and might                       *
  * receive DL/I status codes for requests                       *
  * against the affected IMS database or                         *
  * DEDB area. For example, requests                             *
  * against an affected DEDB area might                          *
  * receive an FH status code, which                             *
  * indicates that the area is inaccessible                      *
  * to the requested service.                                    *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  * Apply the maintenance provided by this APAR.                 *
  *                                                              *
  * If you use the CICS and ODBA applications                    *
  * pause feature and NOBATCH or NOOBJECT is                     *
  * specified as a system-level HLASM option,                    *
  * the feature might not operate as intended.                   *
  * After applying the maintenance, regenerate                   *
  * the DFSDBCTG module that is customized                       *
  * for use with IMS Tools Common Pauser.                        *

  The CICS and ODBA applications pause feature might not suspend
  application processing when DFSDBCTG is generated with certain
  system-level HLASM options.
  
  This APAR also standardizes the HLASM options in sample member
  FOIVCNFG without affecting the function of the generated module
  and corrects incorrect product version references in the
  applicable sample JCL members.
