Abstract

On 27th August 2026, IBM released the IBM® Maximo® Application Suite Predict Component 9.0.18

This document describes the August 2026 Patch for the Predict service. This patch focuses on security remediation and platform dependency updates, including updates to the UBI WLP base image and pipeline engine, while maintaining service stability, compatibility, and existing functionality.

  1. Security Updates:
    The August 2026 patch includes security-related updates to the underlying platform components and third-party dependencies used by the Predict service.
    Security Fixes
    Updated the ubi-wlp17 base image to version 2.4.16 to incorporate the latest available security fixes and platform updates.
    Updated the pipeline-engine component to version 9.2.36, which includes security and stability improvements.
    Applied additional security fixes to address known vulnerabilities in the Predict service runtime and its underlying dependencies.
    Validated the updated components to ensure that the security remediation does not introduce functional regressions.
  2. Dependency and Platform Updates:
    The following platform components have been updated as part of this patch:

  3. Stability & Compatibility:

    Confirmed backward compatibility with existing Predict deployments and integrations.
    Successfully completed regression testing to ensure there is no impact on Predict service functionality.
    Verified that existing Predict APIs and workflows continue to operate as expected.

    Summary:
    The August 2026 Patch delivers security remediation and platform updates through the adoption of ubi-wlp17 2.4.16 and pipeline-engine 9.2.36, along with additional security fixes.
    These updates improve the overall security posture and runtime stability of the Predict service while maintaining backward compatibility, operational stability, and existing functionality.
    No functional changes or API modifications are introduced in this release.

Issue Description:

        During the Predict code release, the following cell was added to the WS - Anomaly Detection - UnSupervised notebook:

        pmlib_file_name = 'pmlib'

        The notebook already has an existing pmlib configuration used by the model deployment process. By explicitly assigning pmlib_file_name to 'pmlib', the newly added cell overwrites the existing pmlib file configuration.

        As a result, the deployment process attempts to use pmlib as the pmlib package instead of using the existing configuration. Since pmlib is not the expected ZIP archive or YAML file in this context, model deployment       can fail with the following error:

        pmlib is either a directory, missing, or not a valid zip archive or a yaml file name.

        Resolution

        The pmlib_file_name = 'pmlib' cell is not required and should be removed completely.

        Removing the cell allows the notebook to retain and use the existing pmlib configuration without being overwritten by the newly added value.

        No replacement code is required.
