Abstract
This document provides details about the Maximo Application Suite Reliability Strategies GA Release 9.2 On 25 June 2026, IBM released IBM Maximo Application Suite Reliability Strategies 9.2
Content
Major Features & Enhancements :
Assignment of custom strategies to locations
- Assign reliability strategies to locations as well as assets
- Use a dedicated Locations tab aligned with the asset assignment experience
- Support organizations that manage maintenance at the functional location level
Component and mechanism management
- Rename and delete components and mechanisms within the failure mode hierarchy
- Enforce hierarchy integrity by preventing deletion when dependent records exist
- Provide clear guidance and consistent workflows for managing relationships
Improved strategy copy experience from library to custom
- Copy all relevant fields when creating custom strategies from library strategies
- Ensure consistency between library and custom strategies while reducing manual rework
Expanded visibility of reliability strategy library fields
- Surface key SME-driven fields directly within the strategy workflow
- Provide additional context such as common failure causes, monitoring opportunities, and maintenance risks
- Enhance mitigation details with primary failure modes addressed and progression to failure
- Reduce reliance on external references by embedding critical information in the UI
Associating failure modes and mitigation activities from action details
- Link failure modes and mitigation activities directly from the Action Details view
- Use multiselect lookup dialogs to streamline association
- Maintain consistency with existing selection patterns and prevent duplicate links
Job plan integration for mitigation activities
- Associate job plans with mitigation activities, including a defined primary job plan
- Create new job plans directly from mitigation activities with prefilled context
- Generate job plan tasks from actions and support further editing in the Job Plan application
- Provide visibility into linked job plans and their downstream usage
Preventive maintenance (PM) support for mitigation activities
- Associate existing PMs with mitigation activities to align strategies with execution
- Select and manage a primary master PM for each mitigation activity
- Create new PMs or master PMs directly from mitigation activities with prepopulated values
- Leverage job plan and asset relationships to surface relevant PMs
- Improve identification of coverage gaps in maintenance programs
Multiple problem and cause code association for failure modes
- Assign multiple problem and cause codes to a single failure mode
- Support selection of valid problem–cause combinations based on the chosen failure classification
- Improve accuracy and flexibility in capturing failure information
- Enable richer analysis and better alignment with organizational failure coding standards
Configurable risk matrices for failure analysis
- Define custom severity, probability, and detectability scales
- Create and manage reusable risk matrices aligned with RCM methodologies
- Evaluate failure modes using matrix-driven scoring and automated RPN calculation
- Support both advanced (matrix-based) and existing evaluation approaches
- Improve prioritization through context-driven risk assessment
Meter integration for condition-based maintenance
- Link meter groups to strategies and associate meters with failure modes
- Support both time-based and meter-based maintenance intervals, or a combination of both
- Enable meter-based frequency in actions, mitigation activities, and PM creation
- Strengthen traceability between condition monitoring data and failure analysis
Implementation dashboard for strategy coverage and execution
- Access the dashboard to track strategy implementation across assets and locations
- Visualize failure mode coverage with protection levels based on PM effectiveness
- Identify gaps, recommended mitigation activities, and coverage improvements
- Track mitigation activity status based on PM and job plan execution
- Differentiate between tracked and untracked PMs
- Enable creation of PMs directly from recommendations
- Support filtering, drill-down analysis, and ignore options for focused decision-making
AI-assisted strategy creation and refinement
- Use generative AI to assist with creating mitigation activity long descriptions
- Generate strategy actions using AI to accelerate strategy development
- Apply AI-assisted filtering of actions within failure modes to identify the most relevant activities
