Use computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models to plan M/T 9176-ME2 system airflow in the data center.
Each LIBRARY (.libraryitem) file provides a realistic object of a 9176-ME2 server for use with Cadence Reality DC (Version 2025.0) CFD software.
These files contain representative information associated with the system’s physical size, airflow and power consumption for each respective feature. They are provided as-is. Power and airflow values are derived from the IBM Systems Environment Estimator. These files are provided to assist in understanding the behavior of the 9176 within its planned installed environment and not necessarily to predict the exact power, weight, and airflow characteristics of the system as installed. The intended audience for these files includes all client personnel who are responsible for the successful physical planning, installation, and operation of the system.
These files contain realistic airflow control specific to the configuration. These files should not be modified as to assure the accurate behavior is maintained.
- 9176-ME2 - Max18 (This is provided in a ZIP file)
Notes:
- The optional side covers have been included with each model. These can be deleted if the system is installed interior to an aisle.
- All hardware fan speed controls and airflows should reference the CPC0 temperature sensor. When adding additional CPC and/or PCIe+ I/O drawers, the user will have to manually update these elements of the model.
- Customers can use the additional space within the 9176 frame to host additional IT equipment. This additional equipment cannot alter the 9176 equipment or use the 9176 PDUs.
- The model contains a full power network model. When adding a second CPC drawer, two additional PDUs will need to be added. Refer to the Installation Manual for Physical Planning (IMPP) for details.
