Creating and Managing Channels

After logging in to the IBM Video Streaming dashboard, you need a channel before you can stream, upload content, or view uploaded content.

Create a New Channel

1. Log in to your IBM Video Streaming dashboard.
2. Go to the Channel section.
3. Click the + sign to create a new channel.

Title

Enter a title for your channel. This title will appear on the channel page and in the dashboard.

Language

Select the primary language for the videos supported by the channel.

Choosing a language allows generated captions to be created after a broadcasted video has been fully processed.

You may choose to automatically publish captions. However, it is best practice to review, edit, and spell check the WebVTT captions for accuracy before publishing.

When finished, click Create in the lower-right corner of the menu.

Create an Additional Channel

1. Click the drop-down arrow next to the existing channel.
2. From the pop-up menu, select Create New Channel.

Channel Information

From the dashboard, open the Channel section and select the Channel Info tab to edit basic information for your channel.

From the Channel Info tab, you can:

• Rename the channel
• View the channel URL
• Upload or change the channel picture
• Delete the channel

Channel Name and URL

You can rename your channel at any time. However, changing the channel name will not change the channel URL.

Channel Picture

The Channel Picture section shows the image selected for your channel. You can change it at any time.

1. Click Edit Channel Picture.
2. Upload a new image.
3. Resize the image as needed.
4. Click Save.

All channel images are square and cannot be resized to a different shape.

Save or Delete the Channel

After choosing your channel name and image, click Save in the lower-left corner of the page.

If you want to delete the channel, click the red Delete Channel link in the lower-right corner of the page.

Important: Before deleting a channel, download or otherwise save any videos you want to keep. Any assets stored on the channel will be lost after the channel is deleted.
