Concurrent Views vs. Total Views in IBM Video Streaming

General Page

This article explains the difference between concurrent views (real-time audience size) and total viewers (cumulative count since broadcast began) in IBM Video Streaming.

Concurrent Views

Concurrent views display how many viewers are watching the stream at each second. As viewers join and leave the stream, this number will fluctuate up and down.

Total Viewers

Total viewers show how many viewers have watched the stream since the current broadcast began. If you stop and restart your broadcast, this number will return to zero. However, reconnecting within two minutes will keep the total number intact.

This number is cumulative, so you will never see a downward trend. Note that this metric does not represent unique views. If a viewer watches the stream for a while, leaves, and then returns, that same viewer can be counted twice in the total viewer number.
