Abstract
Tape storage can be a very valuable addition to your storage portfolio. It can offer high performance backup and archiving targets, including air-gapped, immutable and encryption features. As use cases for different storage types such as deep archive object storage become more popular, tape can be part of the storage hierarchy underneath those new storage types. Tape also offers unique benefits in capacity to square footage, power utilization, decoupled storage that no other storage type can match. With today's supply chain issues and the associated delays in getting solid state and spinning disk from different vendors, expanding a tape footprint can be a viable solution.
One of the topics of this session will be to focus on a "Day-in-the-life" of using tape with backup, using IBM Storage Protect as an example.
