No Business Mapping Filters Show Any Data in the COIN Explorer page under the Optimization Dashboard when Resource Optimization Data Source Is Set to Advanced

Troubleshooting


Problem

The COIN Explorer page does not display data when a Business Mapping filter is applied.

Symptom

  • No data is displayed in the COIN Explorer page under Optimization Dashboard after applying a Business Mapping filter.
  • Rightsizing recommendations are not visible when the Resource Optimization Data Source is configured as Advanced.
  • The same Business Mapping filter may work correctly when using the Basic data source.

Cause

Business Mapping filters do not filter any data under Rightsizing > Advanced.
When the Resource Optimization Data Source is configured as Advanced, the Optimization Dashboard COIN Explorer is unable to return data for Business Mapping filtered views and business mapping filters.

Diagnosing The Problem

Follow the steps below to confirm the behavior:

  1. Navigate to:
    Rightsizing Preferences > Dashboard Preference
  2. Check the value of:
    Resource Optimization Data Source
  3. If the value is set to Advanced, proceed with the following validation:
    • Open Rightsizing > Advanced
    • Apply the same Business Mapping filter
    • Verify whether data is displayed
  4. Compare the behavior with:
    Rightsizing > Basic
    • Apply the same Business Mapping filter
    • Verify whether data is displayed successfully
  5. If data is visible in Basic but not in Advanced, the issue is caused by the unsupported Business Mapping filter behavior in the Advanced data source.

Resolving The Problem

To resolve the issue:

  1. Navigate to:
    Rightsizing Preferences > Dashboard Preference
  2. Change:
    Resource Optimization Data Source
    from Advanced to Basic
  3. Save the changes.
  4. Return to the Optimization Dashboard COIN Explorer and reapply the Business Mapping filter.

The dashboard should now display data correctly with the Business Mapping filter applied.
