DataStage jobs fail after service account password change in Administrator

Question & Answer

Question

DataStage jobs fail after changing service account password in Administrator; how to update environment variables without recompiling jobs?

Answer

To resolve the issue of having to re-import updated values into the parameter set, recompile the job, and reschedule it after changing the service account password, follow these steps:

  1. Set the environment variables (e.g., $Xuser and $Xpass) in the DataStage Administrator tool.
  2. Create a Parameter Set in the project and use $PROJDEF as the value for the parameters.
  3. Add the Parameter Set to Job Properties and reference the variables in the job.
  4. Initially, compile the job and reschedule it to pick up the new parameter values.
  5. For subsequent password changes, update the values in the DataStage Administrator tool; the job will automatically pick up the new values without needing recompilation or rescheduling.
