Notes:
1. The HPE StoreOnce System is a disk-based storage device which emulates one or more tape autoloader devices. The emulated tape and autoloader devices can be backup targets for IBM Storage Protect Server.

2. The following library emulation modes are supported:

  • D2DBS Library
  • MSL G3 Series (2x24) Library
  • MSL G3 Series (4x48) Library
  • MSL G3 Series (8x96) Library
  • IBM TS3500 (03584L32) Library

3. The following read/write drive emulation modes are supported:

  • HP Ultrium 9-SCSI
  • HP Ultrium 8-SCSI
  • HP Ultrium 7-SCSI
  • HP Ultrium 6-SCSI
  • HP Ultrium 5-SCSI
  • HP Ultrium 4-SCSI
  • HP Ultrium 3-SCSI
  • HP Ultrium 2-SCSI
  • IBM ULTRIUM-TD3

4. HPE StoreOnce Software 5.2.0 has been validated with IBM Storage Protect Server 8.2.0 with the following emulation modes.

  • Library emulation - HP D2DBS Library - Firmware: EL01
  • Drive emulation - HP Ultrium 6-SCSI - Firmware: ED61
  • Library emulation - HP D2DBS Library - Firmware: EL01
  • Drive emulation - HP Ultrium 4-SCSI - Firmware: ED41  
  • Library emulation - HP MSL G3 Series (2x24) Library - Firmware: EL21
  • Drive emulation - HP Ultrium 9-SCSI - Firmware: ED91
  • Library emulation - HP MSL G3 Series (2x24) Library - Firmware: EL21
  • Drive emulation - HP Ultrium 5-SCSI - Firmware: ED51
  • Library emulation - HP MSL G3 Series (4x48) Library - Firmware: EL31
  • Drive emulation - HP Ultrium 8-SCSI - Firmware: ED81
  • Library emulation - HP MSL G3 Series (4x48) Library - Firmware: EL31

5. Barcodes are required.

6. Define Library with LIBType=VTL and RELABELSCRatch=YES

7. ELEMENT=AUTODETECT in the DEFINE/UPDATE DRIVE command is supported.

8. Application Managed Encryption (AME) is not supported.

9. Drive Encryption, Logical Block Protection, and WORM are not supported.

10. If the emulated tape drives are IBM Ultrium tape drives, the IBM tape device driver is required. 

11. The IBM tape device driver is available at IBM Fix Central. Choose the following options from the drop-down menus.

  • Product Group -> System Storage
  • System Storage -> Tape systems
  • Tape systems -> Tape drivers and software
  • Tape drivers and software -> Tape device drivers
  • Platform -> Select the platform for the device driver
