Abstract

IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact 7.1.0.38 Interim Fix 1 addresses the known issue DT468131 which was identified after the release of version 7.1.0.38.

Download Description

Before installing 7.1.0.38 Interim Fix 1, review the prerequisites and installation steps outlined in the 7.1.0.38-TIV-NCI-IF0001 README file.

This interim fix addresses the following defect:

DT468131: Version control history not created or updated after applying Fix Pack 7.1.0.38
After applying Fix Pack 7.1.0.38, some policies may save successfully but are not registered correctly in version control, causing policy history to fail to load and later saves to fail.

Prerequisites

This Interim Fix is applicable to Impact version 7.1.0 Fix Pack 38 only.

Before applying the fix, complete the following steps:

Stop the Impact backend server.
Stop the Impact GUI server.

The fix can then be applied to the Impact backend server.

Installation Instructions

Applying the Interim Fix

1. Unpack the contents of the 7.1.0.38-TIV-NCI-IF0001.zip package, to a temporary location on your system.

2. Take a backup of the existing nci.jar file.
Note: When backing up nci.jar to the EAR directory, do not use a .jar file extension for the backup copy.

3. Copy the nci.jar from 7.1.0.38-TIV-NCI-IF0001.zip and replace it in nci server application

$IMPACT_HOME/wlp/usr/servers/NCI/apps/NCI.ear/nci.jar

Adjust the file path to match your instance name.

4. Start the Impact server:

$IMPACT_HOME/bin/startImpactServer.sh|bat

How to verify the installation

Run the versioninfo script:

/opt/IBM/tivoli/impact/bin/versioninfo.sh|bat

After the Interim Fix is installed, the system will display the following version information:

Version: 7.1.0.38
7.1.0.38_IF0001

List of files affected, updated, or replaced by this Interim Fix

Impact server only:

$IMPACT_HOME/wlp/usr/servers/NCI/apps/NCI.ear/nci.jar

Removing Impact 7.1.0.38 Interim Fix 1

To uninstall the Interim Fix, restore the previous nci.jar from your backup
