Error description

  • The format of the DFHCE3549 terminal message changed at 6.2 to
include a last logon date and time as well as a failure count in
addition to the existing text indicating a successful signon.
The additional text also caused the message to start on line 23
instead of line 24 of a standard 24x80 screen.

The 6.2 and above version of the message is:

DFHCE3549 Sign-on is complete after 0 failed attempts. Last
access: mm/01/2026 at 14:06:01. (Language ENU).

The previous version of the message was:

DFHCE3549 Sign-on is complete (Language ENU).

The changed text and message location causes problems for
automated processes that rely on the exact text and screen
    location.

This APAR will provide a feature toggle that can be used to
reinstate the previous message format. This is to be used as
a migration aid to allow additional time to adjust to the new
    DFHCE3549 message format.

    ****************************************************************
The format of message DFHCE3549 changed in CICS TS 6.2 to
include a last logon date and time as well as a failure count in
addition to the existing text indicating a successful signon.
The additional text has also caused the message to start on
line 23 instead of line 24 of a standard 24x80 screen.

The changed text and message location causes problems for
automated processes that rely on the exact text and screen
    location.

Problem conclusion

  • Feature toggle com.ibm.cics.message.dfhce3549.long has been
provided to reinstate the previous message format (pre CICS TS
6.2). The default of this feature toggle will be TRUE meaning
the current format (6.2 and above) is used. The FALSE option can
be used to reinstate the previous format of the message.

This is to be used as a migration aid to allow additional time
to adjust to the new DFHCE3549 message format.

NOTE that the use of this feature toggle requires BMS be set to
FULL or STANDARD. If BMS=MINIMUM is in use, CESL/CESN will
    abend ABMG.
