Business Central is a platform for authoring and management of business assets. The deployable archive needs to be installed and is only supported on top of Red Hat JBoss EAP 7.4.

Add-ons are additional product components needed in specific situations. They include migration tool, Process engine, Decision engine, Smart Router, headless Controller, Employee Rostering App Template and sample Case Management application.

Migration tool helps with the migration steps needed to upgrade Red Hat JBoss BPM Suite 6.4 to Business Automation Manager 8.0. It takes care of the following migrations:

1. Project structure migration
2. System configuration directory structure migration
3. Forms migration
4. POMs migration

Process engine is the running core of Business Automation Manager executing business processes and cases. The lightweight engine, jBPM, can be embedded in custom business applications for process execution, task management, and case management uses.

Decision engine is the running core of Decision Manager executing business rules that is part of Process engine artifact. The lightweight engine, Drools, can be embedded in custom business applications for business rules evaluation, complex event processing, and DMN execution.

Smart Router does load balancing, routes requests to the right service, and aggregates data across services. It hides the underlying complexity of connected Process Servers and provides the same REST API endpoints. This functionality makes Smart Router to expose itself as a single point of access.

Headless Business Automation Manager Controller for all supported EE7 containers is a control unit for managing all connected Process Servers over REST API or the Process Server Java Client API to interact with the controller. It controls which projects are deployed on which Process Servers, manages the configurations, and synchronizes all changes among the Process Servers.

Process instance migration tool is a standalone web application for planned migrations of business process models from one version to another with the support for node mapping.

Dashbuilder runtime is an standalone web application that visualizes monitoring data from imported KIE Server live datasets.

Sample Case Management application provides basic environment to run cases. Every domain-specific case application should be tailored to the end-user needs. Therefore this UI serves as an example of case widgets which users might want to see in their case applications.

OpenShift Templates facilitate building a custom KIE Server extension image for an external database.

If you want to use an external database server for a KIE Server and the database server is not a MySQL or PostgreSQL server, you must build a custom KIE Server extension image with drivers for this server before deploying your environment.
