Troubleshooting
Problem
In the web view of ClearTeam Explorer (CTE), when you use the Add to Source option on a hijacked file element, the subsequent use of Compare to Predecessor might not function.
Symptom
The following issues are identified:
- Choosing Compare with Predecessor from the right-click menu:
- After using the Add to Source option on a hijacked element, if you then check out and check in, the system incorrectly compares the latest version to the hijacked version rather than comparing it to the previous checked-in version.
- Restarting CTE: After restarting CTE and hijacking the element again, if you select Compare with Predecessor, it will result in a comparison between the previous version and the hijacked version. However, any additional changes made to the hijacked file are not reflected in the comparison results.
- Running Compare with Predecessor from the Version Tree browser: When the hijacked version is compared to its predecessor, the changes made to the hijacked file do not appear in the comparison results. This behavior continues even after restarting CTE.
Cause
This issue is due to legacy design behavior in the web view.
Resolving The Problem
To work around this issue, restart CTE.
The Compare to Predecessor option provides correct results for checked-in versions after restarting CTE. However, if the comparison is performed on a hijacked version, the right pane will display the version information for that version. Additionally, it will not compare the hijacked version to its predecessor.
