Grafana Operator v5.22.0 Failure to Upgrade or Install in MAS

Troubleshooting


Problem

The Grafana Operator is giving an error in the OpenShift clusters with versions lower than 4.19 where MAS is installed or being installed. 

In existing MAS instances, the Grafana Operator updates to version 5.22.0 and stays in 'Pending' status while version 5.21.2 stays in 'Replacing' status.

During installation of MAS, Grafana fails to install with Grafana v5.22.0 in 'Pending' status.

In both cases, there is an installPlan error:
