Trial plans for IBM Cloud services (such as watsonx Orchestrate, Data Intelligence, and similar offerings) are managed exclusively by IBM Cloud. TechZone does not have the ability to modify, extend, or override the duration of any IBM Cloud trial plan.
This guide explains what users should do when a trial plan expires and what alternatives are available.

1. Trial Plans Are Managed by IBM Cloud

  • Trial plan durations are controlled by IBM Cloud, not TechZone.
  • TechZone Support cannot extend, reactivate, or increase the duration of any trial account or service.
  • If your trial plan expires, TechZone cannot override that expiration.

2. What To Do if Your Trial Plan is about to Expire

A. Contact IBM Cloud Support

For all questions about trial plan durations or extensions, users must contact IBM Cloud Support directly, as they are the only team able to evaluate extension eligibility.

B. For Watson Orchestrate Trial

You can utilize form watsonx Orchestrate Trial Tenant Extension Request to request an extension.

Note: TechZone cannot submit trial-extension tickets on your behalf.

3. Trial Plans Used Inside a TechZone Reservation

If a trial plan expires while being used within a TechZone environment:

  • You will need to create a new TechZone reservation that starts with a fresh trial (if eligible), or
  • Upgrade the IBM Cloud service to a paid plan if continued access is required.

TechZone cannot extend reservation time beyond what the IBM Cloud trial permits.

4. Available Alternatives When a Trial Cannot Be Extended

Option 1: Create a New TechZone Reservation (Recommended)

This is the simplest, fastest, and cost‑free option.

Option 2: Request an Upgrade to a Paid Plan

If recreating the reservation is not possible, users may request an upgrade from Trial → Essentials or Standard.

Important: Paid plans may incur costs. Choose this option only when absolutely necessary.

If you believe an upgrade is necessary, users must open a TechZone support ticket and include the required details listed below.

  1. Business justification for the upgrade
  2. Opportunity number
  3. Opportunity value
  4. Reason a new reservation cannot be created

Requests that do not include this information may be delayed.
