Summary
This document explains how to transfer files from your local machine to a virtual machine (VM) using the console interface. It also outlines alternative methods such as cloud storage and RDP based file transfer.
Objective
File Transfer via the VM Console
When you open the VM console, a small popup appears at the top of the page. This popup begins with “CAD” and contains five interactive buttons.
Steps
- Open the VM console.
- Locate the popup at the top of the screen labeled with “CAD” and five buttons.
- Hover over each button to view its function.
- Select the button labeled “Send text”.
- Use this feature to paste text from your local machine directly into the VM.
- For configuration files or longer content, it is recommended to:
- Create a new file inside the VM.
- Use “Fast Send Text” to paste the full content.
- Save the file with a .conf extension or any required format.
Alternative File Transfer Methods
If the console method is not ideal for your workflow, you can use one of the following alternatives:
1. Cloud Storage Upload
- Upload your file to a cloud service such as OneDrive.
- Access the cloud service from within the VM.
- Download the file directly to the VM.
2. RDP File Transfer
If your environment supports Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP):
- Connect to the VM using RDP.
- Use RDP’s built-in file transfer capabilities to move files between your local machine and the VM.
