Abstract
The following updates are available in release 2.1.17 of Planning Analytics Workspace.
Content
Workflow process versioning
Keep your workflow processes up to date and ensure data accountability. You can now see the version of the workflow processes used in your plan and update them when newer versions become available. If your plan uses an older version, Planning Analytics displays a warning when you open the plan in contribution mode. Contributions are blocked until the processes are updated, and the contributors and approvers tabs are disabled on the task edit page.
Plan owners receive an email notification when an outdated process is detected. The version information is stored in the }Plans_Config control cube, so you can check it anytime.
What's new in modeling
Enhanced guided imports
Reuse guided import objects in Workbench to make data and metadata imports easier. You can import cube data or create new cubes with new and existing dimensions using Import cube. You can also import dimension members, levels, and attributes using Import dimension. Map member data to elements, weights, member types, or ignore options, and apply formulas to members and attribute expressions. Save your guided import so you can update or edit it later, and manage these objects in Database Explorer.
Specify prefixes for variables and parameters in new TI processes
Set your preferred prefixes for parameters and variables when creating new TurboIntegrator (TI) processes in Workbench. By default, parameters use the prefix p and variables use v, but you can customize these in Preferences. Once you set your prefixes, any new parameters or variables you add to a TI process will automatically use your chosen naming convention. This helps you keep your development consistent and organized.
Copy dimension members as a hierarchy
Copy dimension members while preserving their hierarchical structure. Previously, you could only copy members as a flat list. Now, you can choose to copy them as a hierarchy, making it easier to reuse structures in other dimensions.
To use this feature, select part of the hierarchy in the dimension editor. Right-click and choose Copy to keep the hierarchy intact when you paste into another dimension. If you choose Copy as list, the hierarchy will not be preserved.
Copy more members in the dimension editor
Copy up to 50,000 members from the dimension editor, making it easier to work with large hierarchies. Previously, copying was limited by page size and settings. Now, you can copy thousands of members in one action.
To use this feature, select the members you want to copy and click Copy (or press Ctrl+C). A dialog appears to show progress while the data is retrieved. When the process is complete, click OK to copy the members to your clipboard.
What's new in forecasting
View transactional details in cell explanations
You can now see up to six months of transaction data when you use the Explain cell feature.
When you use the Explain cell feature to explain a cell at the leaf level, you can now ask to see up to six months of transaction information from the transaction logs. The feature loads the transaction details asynchronously and displays these details in a table.
Use the custom watsonx Orchestrate agent for chat
You can now use your custom watsonx Orchestrate instance for agentic chat instead of the default Planning Analytics AI assistant.
To replace the default Planning Analytics AI assistant for agentic chat, configure the agent from the Integrations tile in the Planning Analytics Administration page. This agent does not have any of the default intents that are included with Planning Analytics AI assistant, and its behaviour depends on what you configure the agent to do.
