Error description

  • MQ issues CSQXDISP DISPATCHER PROCESS ERROR, TCB=x, abnormally
terminating the channel with CSQX599E. Channel limits may be
exceeded indicated by CSQX014E CSQXSRSP LISTENER EXCEEDED
CHANNEL LIMIT, TRPTYPE=trptype. The CHINIT abends with ABN=
0C4-00000011,LOC=CSQXBNTM.????????+00C96. In the APAR'd case the
failing code is in CMQZUTRA at offset x692. Development finds
this occurs even with the PTF UO02826 already APPLIED, which
PH65348 intended to fix. That original problem was an
xtr_data_zos trace point in zutParseTraceRouteHeader. This
function is included in CSECTs CMQZUTRA and CSQXZUTR. CMQZUTRA
is part of QMGR LMOD CSQTOPLM. CSQXZUTR is part of CHIN LMODs
CSQXRCTL and CSQXSUPR. The problem here is that when the fix for
UO02826 was built, it only included the QMGR CSECT CMQZUTRA.
This results in the problem still existing for calls to
zutParseTraceRouteHeader in CSQXZUTR, which is the version used
    by the CHIN.

Local fix

  • Disable MQ CHINIT trace. Depending on how CHINIT trace is
started, users may also need to disable TRACE(CHINIT) TNO(0)
    (i.e. if TRAXSTR=YES is configured).

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When processing a trace route message *
    * with CHINIT trace enabled, it is *
    * possible for an S0C4 abend to occur in *
    *                      the channel initiator.                  *
    ****************************************************************
The fix for APAR PH65348 corrected a trace point that was
causing abends when CHINIT trace was enabled. However, the fix
was only applied to the queue manager code. The channel
initiator uses a separate copy of this code which was not
included in the fix. As a result, the problem continued to occur
in the channel initiator when processing trace route messages
    with CHINIT trace enabled.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix from PH65348 has been applied to the channel initiator
    version of the code.
