OA69053: ABEND047 (S047) WHEN TRYING TO REPRO AFTER APPLYING OA63441 26/02/05 PTF PECHANGE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• APAR OA63441 introduced code to require APF authorization when
  updating the target catalog entry. Users calling IDCAMS REPRO in
  
  an unauthorized state experience (whatever the abend is). The
  new code is intended for Encryption/Compression Bypass only, but
  
  the abend is occurring even when Bypass is not in effect. REPRO
  Encryption/Compression Bypass will require the user to be APF
  authorized, and Bypass will not be used if the IDCAMS REPRO is
  not APF authorized.

  If APAR OA63441 is applied and IDCAMS REPRO ending with ABEND047
  
  
  KNOWN IMPACT:
  IDCAMS REPRO fails with S047
  
  VERIFICATION STEPS:
  OA63441 has been applied and IDCAMS REPRO fails with S047
  
  PE INFORMATION:
  USERS AFFECTED:
  APAR OA63441, PTFS UJ96783 UJ96784, affected the functionality
  of REPRO causing an ABEND047 if the program is not APF
  Authorized. Note: IDCAMS is APF authorized by way of being in
  SYS1.LINKLIB.  This may affect IDCAMS when executed from non APF
  
  authorized programs
  
  USER IMPACT:
  APAR OA63441 fixed the problem it reported but introduced a new
  problem.
  

Local fix

• BYPASS/CIRCUMVENTION:
  Make the program issuing the REPRO APF authorzied or
  
  STEPLIB to older SYS1.LINKLIB modules IDCAMS & IDCRP01
  

Problem summary

  OA63441 introduced a requirement for APF authorization
  to support the new function of DFSMS
  Optimization Mode for Data Set Copy for encrypted VSAM extended
  format data sets and encrypted and/or compressed format
  sequential extended format data sets. The new requirement
  should only apply to the new function.
  

Problem conclusion

• The requirement for APF authorization is updated to only apply
  when the new function is used.
  
  Doc change:
  In z/OS DFSMS Using Data Sets (SC23-6855-70), in section titled
  'Authorized Program Facility and Access Method Services',
  update the REPRO service from 'REPRO-When copying a catalog or
  when the catalog unload/load is to be used' to 'REPRO-When
  copying a catalog, when the catalog unload/load is to be used,
  when copying an encrypted data set, or when compression
  interface is specified'
