Summary:
IBM is committed to ensuring the highest standards of security and reliability in delivering our solutions. We want to inform you about an important security consideration regarding the delivery of Maximo Renewables.
Description:
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is an outdated technology that exposes your systems to significant security vulnerabilities, including malicious exploits and potential breaches. IBM strongly recommends using Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) for all data transfers to safeguard your IT infrastructure.
Despite repeated advisories in 2025, some clients have requested continued use of FTP. While IBM has accommodated these requests, we must emphasize that this approach carries inherent risks. Continuing to use FTP may compromise your data security and operational integrity.
Next Steps:
• We strongly urge all clients to upgrade to SFTP immediately.
• If you choose to continue using FTP against IBM’s recommendation, you will be required to formally acknowledge and assume responsibility for the associated risks.
• IBM will not be liable for any damages or breaches resulting from the continued use of FTP.
Additional Information:
For detailed guidance on upgrading to SFTP or to discuss your options, please contact your IBM representative/CSM.
Thank you for prioritizing security and partnering with IBM to protect your business.
