Error description

  • Db2 HPU invokes the Db2 QUIESCE utility when it needs to make
sure the Db2 dataset(s) from the tablespace being unloaded
contain(s) consistent data. The QUIESCE utility, run with the
WRITE YES option, against the involved tablespace complies with
this requirement only if it ends with a return code 0. An end of
the QUIESCE with return code 4 can mean that the utility did not
succeed in externalizing the DB2 buffers to the VSAM datasets.

As DB2 HPU initial design considered return codes less than or
equal to 4 as sufficient to ensure the QUIESCE had completed
normally and externalized the Db2 buffers to the VSAM datasets,
the requirement regarding the completion of the QUIESCE must be
changed so that any return code greater than 0 is considered as
an error and makes the unload fail.
