Problem

Collecting Data documents aid in problem determination and save time resolving Problem Cases (previously called PMRs).

Resolving The Problem

Collecting troubleshooting data early, even before opening the Problem Case, helps IBM® Support quickly determine if:

 
Symptoms match known problems (rediscovery).

There is a non-defect problem that can be identified and resolved.
There is a defect that identifies a workaround to reduce severity.
Locating root cause can speed development of a code fix.

Manually Gathering General Information

A) System upgrade logs:

Please collect and share latest upgrade log files available at the location "/data/log/adminconsole" on the IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management Server.

  • update-manager.log
  • SCDMAdminConsole-upgrade-*.log
  • adminconsole.log.*.gz
  • OS-update-*.log
  • SCDMProduct-upgrade-*.log

B) IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management Healthy Check Report:

  1. cd /opt/scdm/tools
  2. Execute the 'health-check.py'
  3. Send the output.

C) IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management logs from the virtual appliance:

  1. Log on to the IBM Storage Copy Data Management virtual appliance console as root user.
  2. Run the below command in the command prompt:
    cd /opt/ECX/tools/logcollect
    ./logcollect
  3. Enter the admin username and password.
  4. Run the below command to locate the log collect zip file:
    cd /opt/ECX/tools/logcollect/logs

D) Collect and share the MongoDB upgrade logs (mongoUpgrade_*.log) from the following location:

/opt/scdm/tools/mongo-upgrade/logs/

E) Output of command:

kubectl get pods -n scdm

 
Submitting Information to IBM Support

After the case is open, you can submit diagnostic troubleshooting data to IBM.

If using ESR, update the Problem Case to indicate that data has been sent.
