When using a fully qualified domain name or DNS shortname containing a "_" (underscore) a blank page or http error 400 is displayed, while attempting to launch the management GUI.
The RFC1035 specification for domain names permits the following characters "A-Z,a-z,0-9" and "-" (hyphen).
Since code version 8.1.3.0, this is enforced strictly, additionally this was backported to code versions 7.8.1.8 and 7.6.1.10
If unsupported characters are present in the URL used to launch the management GUI, either a blank page or http error 400 is displayed (depending on the browser that was used).
Local name resolution is also affected.
eg. using an /etc/hosts file with a hostname containing an unsupported character.
An example of a URL that will NOT successfully open the configuration GUI after upgrade to an affected version would be:
https://v7000_system_01.example.com/
An example of a URL that will successfully open the configuration GUI after upgrade to an affected version would be:
https://v7000-system-01.example.com/
Work around
Use the IP address to navigate to the SVC/Storwize GUI.
Alternatively, change the FQDN or DNS shortname assigned by the network infrastructure, so that it conforms to RFC1035
