AMS Configuration – Onboarding (Event Allocation & Allocation Category)

How To

Summary

This article explains the step-by-step process for onboarding Event Allocation and Allocation Categories in the AMS system. Proper configuration ensures accurate event mapping and correct availability calculations across plant, makes and models.

Objective

The objective of the AMS (Availability Management System) is to provide a standardized, flexible, and auditable framework for managing time-based availability and downtime Wind Portfolio. The system enables users to:

  • Accurately track availability using IEC and GADS (North America) standards.

  • Configure and manage contractual and custom availability definitions.

  • Allocate downtime and losses to appropriate categories for reliability and performance analysis.

  • Support OEM-agnostic event classification through allocation types, categories, and event code mapping.

  • Perform controlled edits with full auditability, history tracking, and approval workflows.

  • Review, validate, and publish availability KPIs with confidence and transparency.

Overall, the objective is to ensure accurate availability computation, regulatory compliance, and data driven operational decision-making while minimizing data gaps and manual effort.

Steps

Event Allocation – Onboarding Steps

  • Navigate to Configuration in the AMS system.

  • Select AMS Configuration.

  • Choose the relevant Plant.

  • Download the Sample Template.

Template Location:
Configuration → AMS Configuration → Select Plant

Template Details

  • The template contains mapping worksheets with the following columns:

    • Event Code

    • Description

    • Allocation Category

Important Notes

  • Each worksheet corresponds to a specific make and model.

  • If the farm has multiple makes/models, mappings must be entered in separate worksheets.

  • Ensure all required fields are completed in the respective worksheets.

Upload & Validation

  • Upload the completed template on the same AMS Configuration page.

  • The system performs basic validation after upload.

  • Once validation is successful, save the configuration.

Allocation Category – Onboarding Steps

  • Download the Allocation Category template.

  • The template includes the following columns:

    • Allocation Type

    • Allocation Category

    • Availability Scenario

  • Define the Availability Scenario for each category as either:

    • Available

    • Unavailable

  • Carefully verify the defined scenarios, as they directly impact availability calculations.

  • Upload the completed mapping.

  • Save the mapping for further computation and reporting use.
