Error description
The new API command CLONE augments change package processing by cloning an existing package to create another, new package with the same set of resources and commands as the original. . The new target package and the original source package are two distinct packages fully independent of each other. Either may be processed by adding or removing of resources, READY and MIGRATE processed, and so on, without affecting the other. . Then package created by CLONE inherits the resources and commands associated with the originating source package, and attribute values for description, notes, et cetera. No previous processing history or journal activity is copied to the new package; it appears like a newly defined package. The originating source package is not changed, it retains its set of resource and commands unaffected. . The following services and controls apply to CLONE: . 1. "CICS CM security checks for server API commands" are performed for CLONE if activated by Systems Options. . 2. Pre and post change package "Exit Point processing" is performed for CLONE if activated by Systems Options and Exit Points. . 3. CLONE is not restricted by pre-existing change package locks applied to the originating package used as the source for cloning. Any locks applied to the source package ARE NOT replicated onto the new, cloned package. . 4. CLONE requests can be processed via TSO ISPF online panels or in batch via the CCVBMAIN utility. . Other minor corrective maintenance or improvements are included in the APAR: . 1. The online history display of a CSD List is retained and longer cleared from the processing stack, when an interleaving CHECK of the LIST is performed. . 2. The utility program CCVBHKP validation of the CONNECT KEYRING parameter no longer restricts the use of the asterisk (*) generic masking character to the end of the KEYRING value. . 3. The ISPF change package menu options panels are corrected to validate that a Scheme must be specified when selecting the DISCARD option. . 4. Diagnostic code for CICS CM Support's internal use has been inserted into three ISPF panels CCVPPM1K/L/M. .

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of CICS Configuration Manager. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS Configuration Manager for z/OS * * should be enhanced to provide change * * package CLONE processing. * **************************************************************** This APAR introduces new API command CLONE which augments change package processing by cloning an existing package to create a new package with resources and commands drawn from the original. The new target package and the original source package are two distinct packages fully independent of each other. Either may be processed by adding or removing of resources, READY and MIGRATE processed, and so on, without affecting the other. The package created by CLONE inherits the resources and commands associated with the originating source package, and attribute values for description, notes, et cetera. No previous processing history or journal activity is copied to the new package; it appears like a newly defined package. The originating source package is not changed, it retains its set of resource and commands unaffected. The following services and controls apply to CLONE: 1. "CICS CM security checks for server API commands" are performed for CLONE if activated by Systems Options. 2. Pre and post change package "Exit Point processing" is performed for CLONE if activated by Systems Options and Exit Points. 3. CLONE is not restricted by pre-existing change package locks applied to the originating package used as the source for cloning. Any locks applied to the source package ARE NOT replicated onto the new, cloned package. 4. CLONE requests can be processed via TSO ISPF online panels or in batch via the CCVBMAIN utility. Other minor corrective maintenance or improvements are included in the APAR: 1. The online history display of a CSD List is retained and no longer cleared from the processing stack when an interleaving CHECK of the LIST is performed. 2. The utility program CCVBHKP validation of the CONNECT KEYRING parameter no longer restricts the use of the asterisk (*) generic masking character to the end of the KEYRING value. 3. The ISPF change package menu options panels are corrected to validate that a Scheme must be specified when selecting the DISCARD option. 4. Diagnostic code for CICS CM Support's internal use has been inserted into three ISPF panels CCVPPM1K/L/M. 5. Messages CCV5459E (batch) and CCVE549 (ISPF) added for reporting an error when no connections are defined for the target CICS Configurations used for INSTALL processing. 6. Change package pre-processing exit parameter field CPPR-LC-API (Last command, API processed) is corrected to set the field value when the last API command is LOCK, UNLOCK, CLEAR or COMPLETE.
Problem conclusion
CICS Configuration Manager is enhanced. New change package API command CLONE is introduced to create a new change package by cloning it from another. Other minor corrective maintenance is included in the APAR.
