How To
Summary
The Report Designer is a feature. used to create templates for generating reports related to plant monitoring and operational purposes. Reports can be customized based on client requirements.
Objective
The Report Designer is a powerful feature to create customized reports using the Report Designer for monitoring, forecasting, and other operational be leveraged for comprehensive operational insights.
Environment
Report Designer and Scheduling:
The Report Designer is an essential feature for creating templates that generate reports related to plant monitoring and operational activities. It provides flexibility to customize reports according to client-specific requirements, such as:
- Frequency (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Categories (plant-level, device-level)
- Format (Excel, PDF, etc.)
Why Report Designer Matters
Every client has unique reporting needs. For example:
- Customer A may require detailed device-level data.
- Customer B might focus on plant-level summaries.
- Internal teams like Deo could have entirely different specifications.
This variability makes the ability to design custom templates critical for delivering accurate and relevant information.
The Scheduling Process
Once a template is created in Report Designer, the next step is scheduling the report. This involves:
- Selecting the appropriate scheduler type (Email, FTP Upload, etc.).
- Defining key details such as report name, subject line, frequency, and recipient list.
- Ensuring the report name appears correctly in the Excel sheet when delivered.
Steps
Steps to Create and Schedule a Report
1. Access Report Designer
Open the Report Designer feature in the system.

Note: While primarily for monitoring, it also supports work orders, projected source inventory, and research. Utilize these features if needed.

2. Select Plant, Project, and Reporting Settings
• Choose the Plant from the available list.
• Select the appropriate Project Name and Module:
○ Selecting the module will automatically apply default settings.
○ If needed, adjust the sheet name (e.g., keep as “Sheet1” or rename).

Set Reporting Parameter based on client requirements:
Daily for most clients (common need).
Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly if specified by the client.
Define the frequency for data collection:
Example: One-minute frequency for real-time monitoring.
Adjust values as needed (e.g., 10, 15, or 60 minutes)

Define the Category,Device:
Example: Inverter,MFM,WS,SMB.
Parameters as needed (e.g., active power, frequency).
Note: All selections depend on client specifications and reporting needs.

3. Design the Report and Apply
Add required fields based on the client’s specifications.
Configure filters, columns, and layout for clarity and accuracy.
Validate that the report meets client requirements before proceeding.
Use raw data (from the Trends page) as the foundation for calculations:
Raw data includes all available metrics such as date, inverter readings, and energy values.

Create custom templates and calculations as per client needs:
Example: Sum of Inverter 1 and Inverter 2 Active Power.
Sum of Inverter Bill Energy or other KPIs requested by the client.
Calculations and templates should reflect client-specific requirements for reporting accuracy.

4. Use Report Viewer and Scheduler
- Review Reports:
Check that the required values are available. Use the report viewer to review created reports by monthly, yearly, or specific date ranges. Search and Download:
Search for reports and download them directly from the viewer.
- Schedule Reports:
There are multiple scheduling options such as Email, FTP upload, FTP download, block upload, Excel (XLS) report generation, and SMS. Currently, only FTP upload and Email are used. Select Custom Report:
When scheduling, make sure to choose the Custom Report option.
5. Scheduler Type: Email, FTP Download, FTP Upload
Steps to Perform:
Add Required Fields and Data Sources
Select the custom report
Ensure the report name appears correctly in the Excel sheet when sent.
Include subject line: “This is the test report.”
Confirm template name, frequency, and recipient details with the client.

- Scheduler type options include Email and FTP Upload (others like FTP Download, XLS report generation, SMS exist but are not currently used).
- Report scheduling is correctly set up for FTP upload and email.
- The report name and subject match client expectations.
Frequency and recipient list are accurate.

Deployment
- Schedule report successfully
- Deploy profile on remote machine
