How to create Azure Synapse link for Dataverse

Environment

Prerequisites (confirm before you begin)

1. Dataverse: You need the System Administrator security role. Tables selected for export must have Track changes enabled.
2. Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2):
   a. Have an ADLS Gen2 account with Hierarchical namespace enabled.
   b. Ensure you have Owner and Storage Blob Data Contributor roles on the storage account.
   c. Set Permitted scope for copy operations to From any storage account (required for snapshot data).
3. Azure Synapse Analytics workspace:
   a. A Synapse workspace in the same region as your ADLS Gen2 account.
   b. You must have Synapse Administrator role in Synapse Studio.
   c. Add the storage account as a linked service in Synapse Studio.

Additional points:

1. The storage account and Synapse workspace must be in the same Microsoft Entra tenant as your Power Apps tenant. If your storage/workspace network access is set to Selected networks, create the link with managed identities; otherwise, enable public network access for initial setup and delta sync. (Managed private endpoints, data exfiltration protection, or managed virtual networks aren’t supported.)
2. Ensure you have Reader access to the resource group containing both the storage account and the Synapse workspace. If multiple users will use the workspace, they also need Synapse Administrator in Synapse and Storage Blob Data Contributor on ADLS Gen2.
