APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A Db2 HPU step terminates with an ABEND (among which ABENDS422,
ABENDS878 and ABENDS0C1) under the following conditions:
    - The unload is performed in native mode
    - zIIP processing is enabled
    - BSAM is defined as the access method for the output datasets
    - LDS parallelism is enabled and in effect
    - the unload statement contains a high number of empty or almost
      empty partitions

Note: The likelihood of this error occurring increases with the
number of empty partitions, the LDS parallelism degree and the
processing speed of the z/OS machine.

Local fix

  • You may circumvent the issue in one of the following ways:
    - Choose QSAM as the access method for output datasets, for
example by specifying OUTPUT(QSAM) with SEQ_IO_METHOD option
      in the options block
    - Disable the LDS parallelism, for example by specifying 1 as a
first argument of the PARALLELISM option from the options
      block
