Summary

IBM webMethods BPM is using jackrabbit-spi-commons which is affected by a known vulnerability (CVE-2025-53689). This security bulletin provides guidance on addressing the vulnerability.

Vulnerability Details

CVEID:   CVE-2025-53689
DESCRIPTION:   Blind XXE Vulnerabilities in jackrabbit-spi-commons and jackrabbit-core in Apache Jackrabbit < 2.23.2 due to usage of an unsecured document build to load privileges. Users are recommended to upgrade to versions 2.20.17 (Java 8), 2.22.1 (Java 11) or 2.23.2 (Java 11, beta versions), which fix this issue. Earlier versions (up to 2.20.16) are not supported anymore, thus users should update to the respective supported version.

Remediation/Fixes

IBM strongly advises mitigating this vulnerability by updating to IBM webMethods BPM version 11.1 and applying the official fixes:
1) My webMethods Server 11.1 Fix 3
2) UI Development Plug-in to Designer 11.1 Fix 3

And the same for version 10.15:
1) My webMethods Server 10.15 Fix 18
2) UI Development Plug-in to Designer 10.15 Fix 7
