IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps v4.11 upgrade requires custom size profile changes for existing custom size deployments.

Abstract

For deployments using a custom size profile, changes must be applied before upgrading from IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps v4.10.0 or v4.10.1 to v4.11.0 or v4.11.1. Failure to complete the custom size profile updates will cause the upgrade to halt until the updates are completed.

Symptoms:

If a custom-sized deployment is upgraded to IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps v4.11.0 or v4.11.1 without the necessary changes to the custom size profile, the upgrade will be halted, and a CustomProfileInvalid status will be displayed in the Installation CR:

$ export CP4AIOPS_PROJECT=<AIOps project/namespace> 
$ oc get installations.orchestrator.aiops.ibm.com -n $CP4AIOPS_PROJECT -o yaml | grep failure -A 3 
failureMessage: Custom sizing configmap has not been updated for use with new split postgres cluster configuration; the custom sizing configmap must be regenerated with the new postgres cluster configurations included failureReason: CustomProfileInvalid

AIOps will continue to function in this state for a limited period of time until certificate rotations are required.

Environment:

Deployments of IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps v4.10.0 or v4.10.1 using a custom size profile which are upgraded to v4.11.0 or v4.11.1.

When you obtain the updated custom size profile, you will be provided details regarding the additional CPU, memory, and disk required to conduct the upgrade.

To proceed with the upgrade, ensure the additional resource requirements are satisfied and apply the updated custom size profile.
