Error description

  • GDPS Healthcheck GDPS_CHECK_CONFIG could fail with
    ABEND0C4 PIC10 in module VPC8C013 at offset D698.

This is most likely to occur in systems that use the
IBM Disk Subsystem Consistent Read from secondary feature,
as GDPS_CHECK_CONFIG checks for consistent definitions of the
IOS parms required to enable this feature across the syslpex.

    HIPER symptom:

There is also a rare timing window whereby a one bit overlay
of common storage can occur at an unpredictable location
when GDPS attempts to record the results of the check in its
    control block.

    Additional symptom:

GDPS_CHECK_CONFIG might fail to report or erroneously report
exceptions GEOH126E or GEOH127E which alert to inconsistent
    IOS settings.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: GDPS_CHECK_CONFIG healthcheck ABEND0C4  *
    * or potential common storage overlay *
    ****************************************************************
GDPS Healthcheck GDPS_CHECK_CONFIG uses a dedicated XCF exit
routine to maintain a sysplex level awareness of the definition
consistency of several IOS parameters (like Consistent Read
    from Secondary).

Under some circumstances this XCF routine could execute at
a time when GDPS Control Block addressing has not been
    properly established.

There is small timing window that could result in a one bit
storage overlay in common storage at an unpredictable location.

Other possible results are an ABEND in the XCF exit routine or
    simply an inaccurate check result.
