PH68152: USER REPORTS UNEXPECTED VALUES ARE RETURNED TO AN IMS APPLICATION CAUSING UNPREDICTABLE RESULTS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• A program runs as a transaction in an IMS MPP region. Upon
  completion of API calls the MQRC values returned to the
  application are invalid leading to the application abnormally
  terminating. Development finds the problem is in the V940 IMS
  stub CSQQSTUB which can pass an invalid reason code back to the
  application in some scenarios where it should return
  MQRC_HCONN_ERROR but instead the stub ends up returning the
  value in GPR5 from before the call.

  If an IMS application linked with the CSQQSTUB stub makes an MQ
  API call with an invalid connection handle, then in some cases
  the API call may fail with an invalid reason code.
  

Problem conclusion

• MQ API calls from IMS applications with an invalid connection
  handle will fail with reason code MQRC_HCONN_ERROR in all cases.
