Steps
Steps to recover:
If an IBM i system or partition has halted with B6005121 after installing the 7.5 HIPER group and the system has an NVMe or Fiber Channel drive as the Load Source drive, the following steps can be taken to IPL the system and finish the PTF install:
1. Power down the system.
1. Power down the system.
2. IPL the system to the A side.
3. RMVPTF LICPGM(5770999) SELECT(MJ07184) RMV(*PERM) RMVDEP(*YES)
4. Ensure the system is in Normal mode and then IPL the system back to the B side - PWRDWNSYS OPTION(*IMMED) RESTART(*YES) IPLSRC(B)
5. The HIPER group will show as Not installed (WRKPTFGRP). If you would like to complete the PTF install, then load and apply MJ07184 or its fixing PTFs, SJ07685 and MJ99407. An IPL will be required to apply MJ07184 or the fixing ptfs. PTF MJ07184 or fixing ptfs are recommended to be applied if the system has an iASP.
a) Mount the HIPER group PTF image and then issue a command like: LODPTF LICPGM(5770999) DEV(OPTXX) SELECT(MJ07184)
b) APYPTF LICPGM(5770999) SELECT(MJ07184) APY(*TEMP) DELAYED(*YES)
c) PWRDWNSYS OPTION(*IMMED) RESTART(*YES) IPLSRC(B)
Steps to Prevent:
Note: MJ07184 has been marked defective. When the HIPER group is ordered on 10/22/25 or later, MJ07184 will not be included and MJ99407 will be ordered in its place. Therefore, this issue should not occur with HIPER group level 86 and later or if HIPER group 85 was ordered on 10/22/25 or later.
If the HIPER group being installed is level 84 or 85 and ordered on 10/21/25 or earlier, do one of the following to prevent the system from halting with B6005121:
If the HIPER group being installed is level 84 or 85 and ordered on 10/21/25 or earlier, do one of the following to prevent the system from halting with B6005121:
1. Order SJ07685 (which will automatically order pre-requisites MJ07682 and MJ99407) and include this with your PTF install. Another option is to order HIPER group level 86 or later which will include SJ07685 and MJ99407.

2. Omit PTF MJ07184. This can be done via GO PTF opt 8 and specify 'Other options' = Y. Then on the 'Other Install Options' screen, specify 'Omit PTFs' = Y. Take opt 1 to omit ptfs for 5770999 and specify to opt 1 to omit PTF ID MJ07184.
