Troubleshooting
Problem
The 2 new environment variables created by the DOORS 9.7.2.10 client installation created to support secure SMTP cause other applications that use OpenSSL to no longer work.
Examples of applications that use OpenSSL and will not run when DOORS 9.7.2.10 is installed:
• MATLAB R2025a
• Ansys STK 2025Rx
• Ansys Icepak 2025Rx
• WindRiver
When the DOORS 9.7.2.10 client is installed these tools will not start up, even if DOORS is not running.
In all cases, uninstalling the DOORS client resolves the issue.

Resolving The Problem
Workaround Instructions:
• Remove system-wide environment variables: Delete OPENSSL_CONF and OPENSSL_MODULES from the global environment. (This is a one-time step to be performed after DOORS client installation.)
• Launch DOORS using the provided batch file: Launch the DOORS client using the attached doors-openssl.bat script (Please update the path to doors.exe or its shortcut as needed). This script sets the required OpenSSL environment variables locally, scoped only to the DOORS client process, thereby avoiding impact on other applications.
Note: This is a temporary solution. Future DOORS client releases will fully address this defect to prevent conflicts with other OpenSSL-dependent applications.
