Error description
EQDIO Virtual NIC Simulation ---------------------------- Support is provided for creating simulated EQDIO adapters. Support was added to TCP/IP to configure an EQDIO Virtual NIC by default. Missing output for IPv6 Router type in IFCONFIG and NETSTAT ----------------------------------------------------------- IFCONFIG and NETSTAT were missing the output for IPv6 Router Type under certain configurations. IP takeover improvements ------------------------ The first packet after an IP takeover event was dropped. Improvements in the handling of EQDIO buffers --------------------------------------------- Enhancements were made in the way that TCP/IP handles buffers with EQDIO Adapters.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of z17 and LinuxOne Emperor 5 hardware * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: APPLY PTF * **************************************************************** With the applicable PTFs applied, z/VM will provide support for the following: EQDIO Virtual NICs - TCP/IP has been enhanced to support EQDIO Virtual NICs. - IFCONFIG was updated to include support for EQDIO Virtual NICs. EQDIO Virtual NICs will be used by default. If EQDIO support is not available in the configuration, a QDIO Virtual NIC will be used instead. - When a Virtual NIC is configured via TCP/IP's DTCPARMS :vnic tag, an EQDIO Virtual NIC will be used by default. If EQDIO support is not available in the configuration, a QDIO Virtual NIC will be used instead. - With the enhancement for EQDIO, TCP/IP was missing the output for "IPv6 Router Type" in some configurations. The output has been restored. IP Takeover Improvements - After an IP takeover event, the first packet was often dropped. TCP/IP was enhanced to route the first packet to the adapter taking over the IP traffic. Improvements in the handling of EQDIO buffers - Performance improvements were made in TCP/IP's handling of EQDIO adapter buffers. Enhancements were made to handle buffers in batches for more efficient operation. Help File Updates - The helpfile for IFCONFIG was updated for support of EQDIO Virtual NICs.
