PH68228: TASK HANGS ON RO TCB DURING MFA PROCESSING 25/12/04 PTF PECHANGE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• During signon with the CESL transaction, a call is made to RACF
  while on the RO TCB. RACF then makes a synchronous call to the
  MFA server which in turn sends a push notification to the mobile
  device of the user signing on. While the user is
  approving/denying this push notification, the RO TCB is hung and
  no other tasks can use it.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS task may hang on the RO TCB during *
  *                      a terminal signon that uses MFA.        *
  ****************************************************************
  A terminal user attempts to sign on to CICS. The signon is
  performed on the RO TCB holding the USADLOCK. If the signon
  involves lengthy MFA processing this will hold up other
  signon requests and other tasks using the RO TCB.
  

Problem conclusion

  CICS has been changed to change terminal signons and perform
  any MFA related processing on an L8 TCB instead of the RO TCB.
