New-function APARs for Db2 13 for z/OS

Abstract

New capabilities are introduced to Db2 13 through continuous delivery of APARs, in the single Db2 for z/OS® service stream. Many APARs introduce enhancements in Db2 13 immediately when you apply them, at any function level. Other new-function APARs deliver deactivated functional code to support future function levels or enable activation of a new function level.

About function levels for new-function APARs

  1. The effective function level indicates the lowest Db2 13 function level where enhancements in the APAR can be used in each subsystem or data sharing member where the PTF is applied Db2. In most cases, it is either FL 100 or FL 500.
  2. Activating the verifying function level indicates that the PTF for the APAR is consistently applied in the Db2 13 environment, including on all members of a Db2 data sharing group. However, the enhancements can be used where the PTF is applied before this function level. FLtbd means that a to-be-determined function level is expected to verify this APAR. None means that this APAR is not eligible to be verified by a Db2 function level because it is for a different product or FMID, or some other reason.

  3. You can activate the higher function level after applying the PTF for this APAR. In a data sharing group, the PTF must be applied on every active Db2 member.

    APARs that are listed in the left column of this row introduce disabled functional code for later activation and are generally transparent to your Db2 environment when you apply the PTF. Their new-function capabilities become available to use only after you issue a command to activate this or a higher function level. Exceptions are noted in the APAR closing text or ++HOLD data.
