APAR status

Error description

  • The getserviceinfo script (which reports the PTF level of each
CICS jar within USSHOME) fails with FSUM7343 (cannot open
<filename> for input/output) as it is attempting to write it's
output to the directory from where it was called rather than in
    the working directory

Local fix

  • Run the getserviceinfo script from within a directory you have
    permission to write to.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: getserviceinfo script output generates *
    * in the location you ran the script from *
    *                      potentially leading to FSUM7343 errors. *
    ****************************************************************
When running getserviceinfo which is generated during JVMSERVER
startup to report the PTF level of each CICS jar within USSHOME,
it's output may not be created within the JVMSERVER work
directory. If the script is executed from a different directory,
the script will attempt to store the output in the directory it
was called from. If the user executing the script does not have
write permission in this directory, the following error may
    appear:
    FSUM7343 cannot open "//serviceinfo-2025-09-09_11-25-30.txt" for
    output: EDC5141I Read-only file system.

    This is then followed by:
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: /serviceinfo-xxxx-xx-xx_xx-xx-xx
    .txt (EDC5141I Read-only file system.)

As a result, the file is not created, and the report does not
    get produced.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS has been updated to no longer write getserviceinfo output
to a file. Instead, it will only display output into the
terminal. This allows the user to specify a file location of
their choosing for the output to go to.

It has also been updated to ensure the getserviceinfo script is
executed under the same Java as the JVMSERVER it was generated
    from.
