Troubleshooting

Problem

The Create serviceable event task fails with error REST0192 Invalid argument class com.ibm.xmlns.powervm.serviceabl eeventmanager.v2013_3.CreateSE - description.

Cause

The problem is due to a programming error introduced in HMC v11r1.1110.1 (first PTF for v1110) where if the description field of the event, contains a carriage return (CR) or line feed (LF) the operation fails with the REST0192 error.

Environment

The problem was introduced in HMC v11r1.1110.1  (iFix MF71733 / vMF71733 / vMF71732).

Resolving The Problem

Circumvention:
To circumvent the problem, do the following:
Edit the description field of the event to remove all carriage return / line feed (CR/LR) characters.
For example, if the description field reads:
"This is the first line.
This is the rest of the text."
Re-write it in one line:
"This is the first line. This is the rest of the text."
Fix:
A fix will be available in the next iFix.
This document will be updated with the iFix number, when available.
